Someone who finally knows the origin of metalcore 🙌 I hate when I call Knocked Loose metalcore and I get crucified for it. This is actual 90s based metalcore. Metallic Hardcore. Not many people understand it for some reason.

Agreed! It's like old school metalcore has been forgotten... 🤔

I agree with you. One of the reasons they get that label often is that (at least) half the band is straight out of the hardcore scene. 3 of the members are straight edge and they often bring out hardcore bands with them when they tour.

What blows my mind is the record was already done and Poppy hit them up to collaborate. KL took the opportunity and the six of them churned this out? On top of that, “deep in the Willow/everything is quiet now“ was to test out a new producer they signed before going into the new record… This band is special

Even better they wrote the entire song the very next day and it turned out amazing. This band is something else

I'd recommend Deep In the Willow / Everything is Quiet Now (2 songs in one) and Blinding Faith. Poppy's vocals go very well with Bryan's. Bryan, the vocalist also featured on Slaughterhouse with Motionless in White. I've heard Chris Motionless will feature on Slaughterhouse II that will be on Knocked Loose's upcoming album.

I never thought of them as old school metalcore by today's standards, but now that you mention it you're totally right. Old school Norma Jean vibes.

Yea this song definitely has that southern sludge in it..I think it was Johnny and Nath comparing the riffs to ETID

I'm not sure if Poppy is still dating (and I don't give a shit who any celebs date), but she was dating Ghostmane and he is a more heavy influenced rap music. He also has a black metal project called Blackmage. I am sure he had an influence on Poppy.

Knocked loose have literally changed the hardcore scene. They are always as brutal as you can be. Listen to the EP “A tear in the fabric of life”, it’s a masterpiece and has an animated video with the 6 track EP that represents stages of grief
