@@Kotsoros37Bryan has been screaming on consistent tours since at least 2016, if not earlier, with no major drop in vocal quality (if anything, his screams got better over the years), which might be misleading but hopefully means that whatever he is doing is safe and won't wear his voice out. I've been lucky to grow up in the tiny Tennessee town where it takes place and see legends from Meshuggah to Dillinger to Eminem play in the field behind my house. @KM-iv9xy I love angry vocals, and Bryan has this insane energy and aggression nobody else I've heard can replicate. But I disagree about Matt Honeycutt though, he has a different style of scream but he also just sounds pissed off at everyone and everything. Too many singers fall into the technique over emotion trap, and it is especially easy with low screams and growls, but some manage to preserve the emotion, like Travis from Varials (shame he left, but the new vocalist sounds just as angry)

Totally agree with what you said about metalcore. The formula is heavy verse, radio rock chorus, basic breakdown. The cleans are all going for either the butt rock vocal sound, or the high pitched poppy sound. There's just no deviation from that formula and the genre has fallen off hard. Then most of the bands that are trying to take metalcore and make it "proggy" are all trying to do the exact same form of "progressive." it's all just so stale
@RibeiroGames12
@RibeiroGames12 Жыл бұрын
I disagree honestly. That's definitely a close-minded perspective about the progressive-metalcore genre right now. Currents, Northlane, Loathe, Volumes, After the Burial, Erra, Void of Vision, Invent animte and Alpha wolf deliver the same concept but totally different and innovative forms of their style of metalcore. If you're referring to bands like new Architects, Sleep Token or new Spiritbox I barely think they make core music at all. Just prog metal bands
@LasTortugasAzules
@LasTortugasAzules Жыл бұрын

@@LasTortugasAzules nah seriously they do have different sounds. its literally the same with any other sub genre you can't have all the bands sounding radically different or its not that genre anymore, so most bands offer variations on a similar them thats literally how sub genres kinda work. and this is for any sub genre you can think of, deathhore, thrash, pop punk, hardcore etc. they all have shit tonnes of copycat bands and then a few flagship ones that bring their own small spin on the formula of the genre
@RibeiroGames12
@RibeiroGames12 Жыл бұрын
@@LasTortugasAzules I disagree tbh. Currents have been experimenting a lot with deathcore elements, Void of Vision and Northlane brings a lot of industrial/dance/nü music to the table. And loathe definitely delivers a more deftones and chaotic sound into the genre. Erra and Invent Animate are very ambient as well. And I agree about your take on alpha wolf, they sound more similar to traditional metalcore like knocked Loose and varials, but they typically interact way more with the bands that I've mentioned
@LasTortugasAzules
@LasTortugasAzules Жыл бұрын
@@charizardmaster13 of course every genre has basic, generic bands. That doesn't mean some aren't worse than others. If I pick a random deathcore song right now, I could end up with something symphonic, a beatdown band, blackened deathcore, a more groove based band, thall, or a half dozen other sounds. If I pick a metalcore song at random, the odds of hearing something totally formulaic are way higher I'll never give up on metalcore, because I've been listening to it since back when people just called it "metallic hardcore." I'm not writing it off forever, and yeah, of course there are still bands doing cool stuff. But I don't think it's even debatable that the metalcore genre is going through a mediocre phase right now

When you talked about their songs being catchy with no structure, it reminded me of a new reign, shit bounces but changes tempo every 30 seconds.

I'm from Kentucky and if you haven't had the chance to see them live, do it as soon as you can. Their live performances are almost better than anything they can put out on an album and that's not an insult.
