Bryan Garris said on a podcast that he got the name for the album from an older woman sitting next to him on a flight, they were going through turbulence and he has a fear of flying so he was very clearly nervous, so she spent the rest of the flight talking to him to distract him from it and at one point when he mentioned that he didn’t do well on planes she told him “You won’t go before you’re supposed to”

This album has completely made my year, I haven’t been able to stop listening. I’ve been a huge Knocked Loose fan since Pop Culture but this one takes the cake as being brutal and chaotic to the highest degree. They really took it to a level I didn’t know existed with this one. The singles being released before the full album were good, but Moss Covers All, Take Me Home, The Calm That Keeps You Awake, these songs are some of the most unique and developed songs I’ve heard from them, somehow taking their wholly distinct sound and blending it with just the right amount of experimentation and inspiration from genres of music you could have never seen being paired with metalcore. Overall this is by far the most interesting album I’ve heard this year, and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

Saw them in Houston the other day & man.. the live performance is even more punishing & heavy. I was in front of the soundboard, as in center as I could be, & the stage production alone was really great. The themes throughout the record on the stage itself & the light-work implemented throughout the set really elevated the heavier moments. The crowd was non-stop for 89% of the set. They were giving it their all in the pit. The directives emplaced by Bryan & Isaac to do ___ at this moment in a song or do ___ was helpful in keeping the energy up. Seeing all types of people (aesthetics wise) being present at the show & being in the pit was a nice sight too. in my opinion, KL really is becoming like Turnstile in the sense that their overall popularity & reach is going into other corners of the music sphere. Bringing in more fans & really opening them up to the heavy music world. The weird thing about the live show aspect VS the studio album, for me, is the fact that I've always felt that some, if not, half of KL's discography sounds very similar or "samey". With the singles being the outliers & having more memorable moments in my opinion, everything else just sort of blurs into one & other. I'll have to revisit the record again & really pay more attention to it. It does sound great to Anthony's point/observation. There is definitely a lot more experimentation & heaviness included on this record that cannot be denied.

@@twentyeightstudio What is the theme? Fantano is saying it's all about religion but it's not necessarily. There is no one theme. The theme is the music. If they snuck the Upon Loss singles on here, it's a fuckin 10. It's one of the best metalcore records of all time. That's not to say they should have done it, but it is to say they were that good and their fans would have been down with it. Edit: I will say the only thematic miss would be "Knocked Loose, motherfucker," which just lyrically would have taken Bryan's severe tone down half a step, but still would have been rad as shit even out of context. Completely agree, also agree with what you said about Kurt. Usually anything that's stood out has usually had Kurt's hands on it....plus converge is just awesome. But something about the KL record just stands out. I think this is my fav album by them, esp the reggaeton breakdown in suffocation with poppy

This album is fantastic and I hope it convinces some metalcore haters to give the genre a chance. A lot of people seem to think all metalcore is the generic crabcore stuff but the genre is much more varied than that. I can't wait to see the impact this album leaves on metalcore as a whole.

I still think Daughters - You Won’t Get What You Want has a more horrific, oppressive darkness to it to the point where it feel like it exudes evil. Don’t get me wrong tho, this album goes so fucking hard. It is such a perfect metalcore album.

Genuinely can't even think about the lyrics for Don't Reach for Me without tearing up. Guarantee it's just childhood stuff that I haven't processed but deeeeaarr gooooooodddd dude, that track hurts. So many good lyrical moments on this entire record.

everyone is mentioning that “reggaeton” groove, i just need to point out to yall that’s called a soca beat, in drumming the phrase comes from the words soul calypso, and originates from central american cultural dance music
@pakxenon7 ай бұрын
at this point with how prevalent the groove is it's just a meme to label anything with that specific set of rhythm as is.

Decent to Strong 9 is a fantastic score for this record and I agree with it. Arguably a 10 in my eyes, because every time I listen I catch something new that I really like from each track. It's a shorter album that doesn't overstay its welcome and delivers on relentlessness, heaviness, unique and interesting transitional moments with the instrumentation, absolutely TOP NOTCH vocal performances from everyone and especially Bryan, and a thematic approach that feels fleshed out and effective for the messages its trying to convey, despite the runtime being so brief. Easily a contender for AOTY, imo.

This record might grow on me overtime, but I really did like it on first listen! I wonder how Anthony would feel about reviewing the new Antichrist Siege Machine album, which is also mind blowingly fast and heavy as well. That band has been proven to be kind of a gateway into the underground micro genre of war metal (or bestial black metal) for a lot of listeners that wouldn’t otherwise touch the sub genre. Another up-and-coming band in war metal is Primitive Warfare, and they are insane as well!

He's given 9s to two metal albums this year, Civerous being the other, and that's kind of cool. I'm seeing Knocked Loose on June 1, Loathe and Show Me The Body are opening, I'm happy to see Loathe again and this show is going to be awesome.

As someone who was turned onto Knocked Loose by Anthony when Blinding Faith dropped as a single and became cult-tier obsessed, I must say I am glad we both ended up loving the shit outta this thing! So crushing, so unsettling, dare I say catchy? But yet it doesn’t feel compromised for broad appeal. And as if having banger after banger wouldn’t have already been enough, they put some real attention into the way the album is assembled and how the themes run through the whole thing. Which is an attention to detail that I rarely see in metalcore these days. And no corny ballads either!!! Just a highly preferable epic post-rock cut.
