He seems to have regressed slightly compared to this. His balance was better here, which made his punches come out sharper. He could more effectively throw combinations because his feet were under him. Guy needs to get a good trainer if and when he comes back.

Mark Breland, the guy you are referencing as "geeza", was the GREATEST American amateur fighter compiling a record of 110-1. He did win the good medal at the 1984 games, he is a 2x champion, and he's probably forgotten more about fighting than your eyes have even seen. He's definitely not a crackhead.

His reach is fucking crazy at some parts in the workout it looked like they were like 5' apart.
@MDCKilla
@MDCKilla 9 жыл бұрын
You would be surprised how little reach matters...ali had an 81 inch reach and frazier had a 73 inch reach but they could still stand toe to toe and hit each other...ali just hit dead on where as Frazier's punches only clipped him but still landed...wilder has great reach and a great right hand but he doesn't have that Liston type jab to keep his opponents at bay, not yet at least
@submissivelover
@submissivelover 9 жыл бұрын
MDCKilla Ali was more around 79-80...Sometimes he's been listed with a 78" reach, in fact, go to BoxRec.com and it says his reach is 78". So, it's more like a guy with a 78" vs a 73", which isn't as drastic as 81" vs 73" and i'd say reach matters a lot, some of the biggest correspondences with boxing is great reach = success...
@drunkmike9943
@drunkmike9943 9 жыл бұрын
MDCKilla How tall was Frazier? cuz I'm 5'10" with a 73" reach and there are alot of 140 to 147 pound boxers with a 72" and 73" reach.
@submissivelover
@submissivelover 9 жыл бұрын
drunk mike Frazier was about 6 feet...5'11 in some measurements for some fights but i'd be comfortable labeling him as a solid 6 footer.
@C_R_O_M________
@C_R_O_M________ 8 жыл бұрын
+MDCKilla I think you are quite right. There is actually a clip here on KZbin where Lennox Lewis is showing him not to start throwing his jab when his arm is retracted so far back (or to retract it too much when it is time to reset it). I don't think he got the message though (at least at the spot).

I don't know what these guys teach him but in our gym we can't just keep circling the same way doing pads or bag work it's only a matter of time before your opponent realises this and cuts the ring off. Can't believe nobody else picked up on this.

(Wilder fans) Fuck yea he can throw a 1-2. Oh he caught a jab with his glove. Oh oh he can do a 1-2-3, I think I even threw an uppercut. Man this guy is the greatest ever heavyweight ever. (Reality) Wilder will throw loose, sloppy, telegraphed right hands...that work against his low level opponents. Can't wait for a good quality boxer to land on him with a easily countered shot - he will go down, he will be off balance, feet together or falling forward with his skinny arms and legs flopping all over the place - night night Beyonce Wilder.
