It takes a lot of work traveling in Europe, but it is soooo worth it. I live in Morocco, right across from Spain so we go to Europe all the time. Our family of three is hard to travel with, so I couldn't even imagine doing it with 9 kids! You guys are doing really good work. Later on in life all your kids will look back on their memories traveling. They will be very open minded and wise.

I'm happy you got your van. I can feel your excitement about having your little island of normal back. When traveling it is important to have those areas of familiar to help ease the culture shock. For example, in China, Sam's Club has the same feeling for me that Costco had for you. It's like walking into "Little America". Familiar brands, familiar set up, familiar cart checking when you leave. Sometimes you just need that.

If you guys go to Ireland, you should take the kids on the coast near Le Havre before you do, you can go to Aromanche and see the different war beaches from D day or go to Etretat and see the beautiful cliffs but also the bunkers from the war. I've grown up in Le Havre, it was fun to see you mention it...
@goodhelloeveryone73137 жыл бұрын
Also Le Havre is celebrating its 500 years this year and there are tons of celebrations such as the giants walking in town (type Le Havre royal deluxe on google you will see! it's incredible). The city was completely rebuilt after WW2 because the Brits have bombed it to get the germans, it is now part of the UNESCO list because of the city center. It is also fairly English speak friendly because of all the Brits crossing there

My friend & her hubby who have been to Paris & France 5 times have not had problems with people being rude. This was the same experience for me but we tried to always greet people and be polite. The extent of my French was "Hello." "How are you today?" Then, "Do you speak English?" Lol Most would reply "A little." and tried to be helpful. Once, when I was in Paris looking at a map in the subway area, a woman came up to me and went out of her way to help me with directions. All I have to say are good things about the French people. And, I can't wait to go back!!! My one caution would be the gypsies. Please ask your hosts to explain how to handle them. i.e. don't let them put any jewelry on your wrists.

I just have to say, that you and your family continue to impress me. You are living the life I would love to live. After the last video, the comments that some people left, left me feeling sickened at how people were treating you. I have never even met you. It is unlikely that I will. But I respect you and your family for doing what is best for your family no matter what other people are saying. When my daughter is no longer a minor, hopefully she and I will be able to travel and learn about the world like we have always wanted to do. She wants to serve a mission for our church, but then after that and in between school hopefully we will get a couple opportunities. I wish it could be now and constant travel while "homeschooling", but I am very thankful for all we do have and can do. Count your blessings! :)

Hey I guess you won't be in France that much longer but they have a system for the tolls where you can buy this device hat you stick in your window which allows you to go through the t line and it automatically allows you through with out cash or having to stop, you just slow down a bit and then the barrier lifts. Its called sanef tolling and can be used in lots of European countries.

You have a gorgeous singing voice! You should sing more often on the vlogs! :) Costco and a van, two things to make you feel more like home. Drones make such gorgeous videos, especially when used in all the places you will be visiting, including the amazing country side. They give an entirely different perspective and you can have the older kids do the footage as your hands are full taking care of the younger kids. I would be very tempted to get one if I were you. Good to see you feel happier. It's very difficult living in a foreign country. My family and I immigrated to the US when I was 10 years old and it was a great challenge for all of us. My 18 year old brother had the most difficult time and wanted to go back home, but we endured the long period of adjustment and eventually it got better. It helped a lot being around other Russian people, as that's where we are from, so it's understandably difficult for you to be surrounded by people you don't know and who don't speak English. With every change there is always an adjustment period.

Yay for the van! Now you can really see France and I'm sure you're all excited. Glad you're feeling better too. When you decided to go to France first I thought to myself "wow they're diving right in." I love France but it is one of the harder countries to assimilate into (in my experience). When you go back to Europe from Ireland try the Netherlands or western Germany. Even in the little towns we always found people who spoke English and it made it easier to stay for awhile. But in the Netherlands people are really blunt and curious so be prepared to answer lots of questions. My two cents, Salzburg Austria go there! Safe travels 😊
