The house transformation is a huge undertaking. I know that from my first tiling job (2 bathrooms), for weeks I couldn’t stop my eyes from immediately going to any tile work at any restaurant, or public restroom, judging every choice in tile cutting, and alignment that was made. Likewise you are likely to stare at wood floors for a decent period of time in your future. That being said, I did learn from you.. I learned the first option would be the safest for a novice floor refinished (I have only ever contemplated it). Also your floors look lovely… even if it will be some time before you stop critically looking at them yourself. Everything is happening on schedule … which is the time it takes, is the time it will take. Keep laughing! :). If you are like most of us, nothing is more appreciated than the work you have done yourself, so give yourself grace in all things. We don’t know how to do it all- be proud at your own undertaking and celebrate each accomplishment, big and small.

Well we learned you cant stop in the middle of a swipe you have to keep it moving or it makes divits in the wood. also you need a hand sander on the ends trust me better off get a company to come in and do it it's worth the money for the less stress

We redid our floors before the internet. Whoever published that video saying to sand diagonally with a drum sander should have their head examined. Drum sanders are hard to control.

Mike and Megan I just want to say I’m proud of you because I know how stressful it was and I’ve been praying for you knowing this was a stressful season in your lives . As for the floors I wouldn’t have known anything and honestly this whole process has been a learning experience . I think you’ve done something amazing for those kids because they are learning valuable lessons thru it all . I should not be stressing as much as I am about getting a house ready for our youngest daughter to graduate high school and our oldest to come home for the summer ( I’m pinching myself she will be a junior at Oral Roberts next year time is flying ) . Spanish oak with a little dark wallnut mixed directly into your stain. It matches old wood very well. Grab a old sock they make great staining rags. Put it on your hand & stain with it.

Do you have to seal the wood floors? Sealing them with a water based sealer will bring out the beautiful grain and protect the floor too from liquid stains. ❤❤❤❤❤

This family literally NEVER ceases to amaze me! These parents deserve MVP parenting awards. The lessons you have taught your children along the way are invaluable. From being International travelers and learning about different cultures to hands on building skills. It’s crazy the life skills these kids are learning. Cooking, budgeting, gardening…the list is endless. Navigating the hardships of living in the camper while finishing the house. THIS is REALITY!! These are also the hardest of years (teenagers). Your floors look beautiful! I love the stain. You did a great job sanding. Four years ago I sanded and finished the floors in the upstairs bedrooms and stairway of my 100 year old farmhouse. I used a big drum sander on the floors, and it was hellish getting it upstairs and using it was difficult for me, at the time, a 56 year old woman. It isn't perfect and there are some gouges. But I saved myself a ton of money and my daughter and I are the only ones who see it. I didn't stain my floors but put Varathane, an oil based polyurethane, on them which darkened them and made them very durable.

the floors are beautiful even without the rugs. They are going to get a lot more banged up through the years. Good thing is that now you now know how to repair them because you refinished them in the first place. The fact that you are in the RV in the driveway will add fuel to the fire under you and it will make you get things done faster so you can move back in. It's looking great and you guys have done soooo much. The smallest details are what takes the longest but YOU GOT THIS! The floors are beautiful, both the color and texture. From the video, the small dents & scratches only look like barely noticeable character traits of the wood. I love the color of the mixed stains. It has dark, but not too saturated color. Lovely end result.

Ahhh I was so excited when I saw this video! Perfect way to relax after a long day. Wow I really admire everything you and mike have done.
