This was my favorite season ever of Knots. From the first episode of season 5 to the last episode of season 5 was just amazing. Lotus Point, that was such a great set. It was beautiful. The outdoor scenes were beautiful as well.

I loved any story line that featured Abby. The season when she reconnected with her first love, Charles, was really good. Also, loved her last season on the show when she duped Gary and Karen into selling Lotus Point to her and had them thinking they were selling to a Japanese company named, "Murakame". Then of course, there was her story line with Olivia being on drugs and the whole Peter incident. Such good TV on this series.

Valene was too good for Gary. She was a good person. Abby was a female J.R. Ewing. She charmed Gary away from Val. You are right, this is one of Joan Van Ark's best scenes. It sticks out in my mind.

I was a teen back in the 80s glued to my set every Thursday night watching "Knots Landing". However, I don't remember any of this except for the Lotus Point name and I do recall the last scene with Abby looking through the back window of the car, but that's it. And I was a big fan of the show. Never missed it. Abby was such a bitch! We moved to Costa Rica in 1987, and it was a big relief to find out it was broadcast down there, although about 2 seasons behind schedule. Down there it was known as "Vecinos y Amigos" which translates as "Friends and Neighbors" (technically it translates as "Neighbors and Friends" but obviously it sounds better the other way in English.

Reportedly, Karen's shooting was a last minute addition to the script. The original cliffhanger just had Abby being kidnapped. I thought this was one of Knot's best cliffhangers
@fwdthinker3 жыл бұрын
Even more clever was dressing Michele Lee all in red so they wouldn't have to explain where she got shot. But if it was last minute, they probably hadn't thought the story arc through yet. So keeping the shot location secret worked well.

What a great show!! Thursdays were awesome TV nights back in the 80's. NBC's "Must-See" lineup from 8pm-10pm then switch over to CBS for Knots to cap off the night!! Great times.

Wow! Joan's acting here is surely heartbreaking! Her one true love and this was like....if she had neighbors, they would know something's up. Abby's reaction was great too, it was in good character for her. I applaud the writers and actors on this!

True ,I remember that . I always used to look out for any inconsistencies like that when the series would resume. The same thing happened with Victoria Principal on DALLAS after the infamous dream season as she woke up a full year and a bit later with longer hair. I guess, in this case ,she figured people would have forgotten or she just didn’t care as she was leaving the show!

Totally agree,this was an excellent season with a terrific build up in tension and awesome cliffhanger. I always thought that the acting by the cast was excellent as they were given the time to showcase their craft. I never saw the series when it aired on tv but managed to get the whole series on bootleg dvd and watched it back to back. I remember teasing my good friend Barbara that Gary had really died and then Karen also…. only to immediately find out in the next episode that they were ok. Dallas was good but Knots Landing really had something extra and I think it came from the fact that the characters were more three dimensional and became like friends that you would catch up with every week!

This was a KL Season Finale and it was hilarious at the beginning of next season when Abby turned around in the car and her hair was short. Why they didn't just give her a wig I don't understand. But they just acted like nothing had changed. They could have at least said that crazy Mark St.Clair got mad and cut it off. Hahaha!
@seand27116 жыл бұрын
I think it's nice they allowed Abby to make a stop at the beauty parlor on the way while being kidnapped.
@EWollberg5 жыл бұрын
They've learned the lesson two seasons later, when they incorperated Michele Lee's new haircut into Karen's kidnapping storyline
@radrobd1235 жыл бұрын
Back then, VCRs weren't that common so there were months between the season finale and the next season premiere so not everybody would remember although they usually did repeat the previous year's cliffhanger a week before the premiere. It happened often during the early days of soaps. One glaring example is when an actor like Patrick Duffy of Dallas had short hair and it grew over the summer and the scene picks up right away but his hair's gotten longer.
@manteadodude4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Continuity errors were less obvious to spot back then as people did not consume TV the way they do now where they can pause, rewind, rewatch repeatedly. Back then, you watched it once and that was it. Even if you taped it on VCR to watch later, you most likely taped over it after viewing to record something else. You also didn't have an internet community to nitpick and analyse and share every minute detail. Different times!😊
