Knots Landing: Season 7 (1985-86) clip (Joshua Rush dies)

These are the final minutes from “Rise and Fall”, the 10th episode (and 140th overall) from the seventh season of CBS drama “Knots Landing”, a spin-off of the popular 1978-91 CBS drama “Dallas”. This episode marks the final appearance of Alec Baldwin as Joshua Rush. The episode originally aired Friday, December 5, 1985.
Joshua Rush (Alec Baldwin) has become violent and unpredictable. He is cruel to his wife Cathy (Lisa Hartman). He has alienated everyone around him; especially his sister, Valene Ewing Gibson (Joan Van Ark). Only his mother, Lilimae Clements (Julie Harris) believes him and his lies.
Joshua kidnapped Cathy and took her to the roof of a tall building where he plans their demise while Lilimae searches for him. Lilimae finds Joshua holding Cathy off the edge of a building. When Lilimae shames him and tells him what a monster he’s become, Joshua falls, on his own. Lilimae and Cathy look down and see Joshua dead on the street.

From the Lillie Mae perspective, the Joshua storyline has parallels to the Chip Roberts arc - Lillie Mae is taken in by a charismatic liar with violent tendencies toward women. Great acting here and I've seen an interview with Baldwin and you can tell by his words how fond he was of Julie Harris.
