The Knotts Berry Farm railroad is home to the most historical amusement park trains in the nation. The Knotts Berry Farm train ride is one every theme park train enthusiast has on there bucket list. But the Knotts Berry Farm trains almost didn't come to be, and it was only through the sheer will and desire of Walter Knott that these theme park steam trains eventually made their way to the theme park. As a result, Knotts Berry Farm 2020 is much better off than it would have been had there been no amusement park trains at all!

I'm very glad that they haven't painted the locomotives in flashy bright colors. Same for the coaches. They kept it the same with the Rio Grande Southern on the tender.

Walter Knott was one of the biggest innovators when it came to theme parks and I feel like he doesn't get the respect he deserves. Yes, people like Walt Disney did great things, but Knott did too!

Yeah you really don't hear Knott brought up in that conversation as much as he should

You’ve gotta mention bud Hurlbut too! He worked with Walter on the calico mine and the log ride, and even had his own theme park called castle park In riverside California.

Walter Knott set the standard for having trains at theme parks. It’s a darn shame that he doesn’t get as much credit. While Walt Disney did popularize it, but Knott started it.

I used to work on 340 from June 20 2022 to October 10 2022. She may have been a little temperamental at times, but I still had fun as her fireman and oiler when I was scheduled to do so. If anybody has the chance to operate a steam locomotive of any scale, I highly recommend it. It's an experience I will never forget. Just try not to burn yourself lol. I've had my fair share of little burns from 340 lol. My "worst" burn from her happened on one of my oiling rounds. I was reaching for the driver box on the first axle to put oil in when my forearm touched the piston rod and it left a little mark on me. But I still enjoyed my time with 340. You can ask all of the engineers who operate her there, she likes to keep you on your toes. I really miss working there. It was a lot of fun

With the new rumor land possibly coming to knotts, would you think expanding the railroad be a smart move? I think the only possible way to this is to make a figure 8 type track layout connecting the old tracks to the new one.

409 was sold to Rio Grande Southern in 1916 and renumbered 41. Knott purchased the engine from RGS in 1952 when the road nearing closure and scrap.

When large corporations buy out smaller businesses they almost always show massive disrespect to the small business, so it’s awesome what Cedar Point has done.

@@steamfan4014 (Me speaking in a Dalek Scientist voice): "OH! Well................That's way too far away in my opinion. Also, to getting into Knott's Berry Farm.... is it at all expensive or less expensive compared to Disneyland??? (which is another theme park that my parents refuse to go to due to it being LITERALLY WAY TOO EXPENSIVE as Disneyland is mainly for RICH PEEPS and their families, if you know what I mean?)...."

I lived in Southern California, briefly, during the early 1960’s. Though we went to Disneyland twice. We went to Knott’s Berry more often. Mrs. Knott’s dinners were outstanding. And the boysenberry pie was second to none. Cedar Fair has done well, but when they took over Knott’s at the Mall of America, the MOA lost a lot of appeal. For instance, no more boysenberry pie. I liked Walter Knott’s simple approach. I guess I’m getting old.

Are you defining "most historical" by the age of the equipment and who owned it? Because Disneyland as an 1894/1902 Forneys. Cedar Point has a 1911 Davenport from a Plantation among 2 1920's Vulcan's and a 1942 Porter. Dollywood has 2 Mikados from Alaska that served in WWII. Disney World has 4 Baldwins that went to Mexico and came back.
