This headpin design is one I've been teaching for many years now. It's great for beginners who are still a little concerned about using a torch to make headpins. It's also a good one for jewelry pieces that you want to give a more organic look to.
Technically speaking, it isn't really a knot. But the way the wire is wrapped does make it look a little like a knot.

Materials:
Round dead soft or half hard wire ,1” longer
than desired length for headpin (I'm using 22 gauge wire in the video, but you can use the gauge you need for your project. This design works best with gauges 28-20)
Tools:
Flat nose pliers or needle nose pliers (I actually use both in the video, but that isn't necessary)
Wire cutters
Needle file or sand paper
