I am from Praia, and i visitd Sal island several times, well Praia is the capital city and Infortunatilly some guys used to walk around in Palmarejo and still some little things, then, run away back to Casa lata, witch is a "ghetto" block not too far, but this is no longer happens anymore... @jackoneil3933 I wouldn’t recommend to retire anywhere in Africa because of the poor healthcare system. At that age you have to take your health into consideration more. But to live I think it’s a good start to Africa or you may get lack of infrastructure/culture shock

@@JoeyJersey Thanks so much... I've been to Africa back in the last century, and back then I thought Nairobi or Mombasa was livable if you had a secure and comfortable arraignment. I figured healthcare would still be an issue, but quite frankly, what I've experienced in the Northwest of the U.S., I wouldn't call healthcare. Malaysia back in the 80's was on a par or better, than Oregon is now, and Malaysia was pretty BAD. in Oregon, if State can say you have an issue that will eventually kill you, the State Suicide program will be your treatment option, as grim as that sounds. A few years ago, I was wrongly labeled (not diagnosed) with Cancer, and was given a prescription for the good old Oregon suicide pills, and denied a follow-up. A year later when I paid for a follow-up and my issues turned out to be a botched hernia repair, not terminal cancer. It took two years to get Obamacare back. My main concern in Africa would be treatment for infections or injuries, after living a year with a fake death sentence, Dying is ok, suffering in misery not so much.

@jackoneil3933 we’ll try mindelo, Cape Verde. They have direct flights to Lisbon. Portugal is ranked 12 according to WHO in healthcare. In 4 hours you can get there. Otherwise Mombasa or dar és salaam and you can get direct flights to Dubai for around the same duration as CV to Lisbon

Great Video!! In summer is the best time because we all need Rain to have food in Cape Verde. In Summer we go to the beach, we find new things to do, more festivals, more night events. The thing with Prison in Tarrafal, is Political related, not very important. Welcome Back to Cape Verde. Great Place to live in 2025. Portuguese had no interest in slavery are first it was the spices, it was the Jews in Morocco that informed the Portuguese Jews of the sub-Saharan tribes in west Africa who would enslave other Africans and sell them to Arabs and Italian city-states. But since you insist on blaming on the Portuguese and not holding the west Africans who hunted down other west Africans to sell to the Portuguese because self-denial is always the easy route. Let me educate you further …. The Portuguese Jews and mainly the Italians (mostly from Genoa) went to Lagos, Portugal and had the monopoly on the slave trade. Even the slave house in Lagos, the founders of that house were of Italian and Portuguese Jewish surnames. The Italians were the first in the slave trade not the Portuguese, they were doing it in Mauritania. Furthermore you should embrace Portuguese if you are Cape Verdean because of various reasons but I will stick to only two… one you have Portuguese blood and secondly Cape Verde would be in complete disarray if it wasn’t for Portugal was bailing Cape Verde out of their debt, just like Portugal did during Covid when CV government sold CV Airlines and TAP Air Portugal had to be the one to make flights at a loss, as well as to send medicine and medical equipment.
