I live in Barcelona, and my main advice would be avoid La Rambla like the plague. Absolute tourist trap, locals avoid it if they can, and the restaurants are all overpriced and substandard. You'll be pestered with "coffeeshop coffeeshop?" (codeword for "weed) every 10 metres - and later a night people will be offering you prostitutes. It might once have been a lively and vibrant place for locals, but that was long ago. Now just avoid. So many better places to see. Also, for the metro, buy yourself a "T-Casual" ticket. Costs 11.35€ and it gives you ten trips on any kind of public transport. You can even use it to get the train to and from the airport.

I've heard pros and cons about La Rambla - mostly cons. Not just the hustlers and pickpockets, but the expensive shops, food & drink as well. Still, it will be our first time in Barcelona, so we have to at least walk up & down the boulevard now and then during our stay. But we'll stay clear of the blatant tourist traps.

We'll be in Barcelona next month, and we've already purchased advanced 'skip the lines' tickets to Sagrada Família, Park Güell, etc. Plus we had included a two day hop on-hop off bus pass. I know the bus routes can be covered in one day, but we wanted to stretch it out a bit and not feel so rushed.

I am from Barcelona and I recommend spending two days on the Costa Brava, within the range of days scheduled in the city. The towns of Tossa de Mar and Cadaqués are two incredible paradises where you can enjoy exquisite Catalan cuisine that is difficult to find in Barcelona and wonderful coastal landscapes with crystal clear waters. Tossa de Mar is one hour from Barcelona and Cadaqués two hours.

We went to Barcelona last week. Your video was helpful. We had a great time. The city is alive and full of history. The food was great. The Boqueria was amazing and the Spaniards were very welcoming. We took a class on how to make paella by a Professional Chef, Andrea in a real commercial kitchen at a culinary school. It was amazing. We recommend to buy tours as we did. All the tours were very professional and knowledgeable about their city. We got to see in five days everything the city had to offer because of the tours. We were very satisfied. I love the Spanish cuisine. We also went to watch a Flamenco show with dinner and was great!!!! We learned a lot!!! We felt very safe. We followed all the tips, thanks. Barcelona in my experience is very safe in comparison to other major cities in the world!

Nice guide! But eco options? Hmm. I live in Sweden 🇸🇪. Car takes a couple of days with bridge and border crossings. Flying on the other hand takes 3,5 hours. Train takes more than 24 hours with changes. So. If you’re going for a short trip and live in another county flying is the way to go. Some airlines fly on partly SAF now anyways if that is of concern. Otherwise a comprehensive look at things to do and how to get around. I visited for a week in 2006 but attended a conference so time to explore was limited. Going for a weekend with family soon. So good reminder of things to see and show my wife who never visited Spain before.

Thank you for this great video! It's very informative. My husband and I are traveling to Barcelona in September for a cruise. We are arriving a few days early. We arrive late on a Monday night- like we won't get into our hotel until 10 pm. Would you be able to tell me if there are restaurants/bars still serving that late? It seems dinner is much later there, but on a Monday night I wasn't sure. Thanks :)
@CORRTravel Жыл бұрын
I'm so pleased you found it helpful! If you are arriving in September, you should still have GREAT weather but be past the huge crowds making your visit (and accessing the big ticket items) more enjoyable. Check the links in the video description for dining opportunities, or use the apps I suggested in the video. Even though it's September, they dine late in Barcelona so a Monday should not be an issue. Again, the apps will help guide you through the neighborhood dining and you can get an idea on the restaurant opening hours. @CORRTravel11 ай бұрын
Yes, many accommodations will have lifts so I would recommend putting a request for what best suits you and let them know of your need for a lift to get to your room. Also, location/proximity to your desired attractions will definitely help. I have some good hotel recommendations in the video description that you may like. I'm sure if you email with your hotel in advance, they can assist you with whatever you need and arranging transportation should you need it. The Barcelona Card can provide good savings. Just ensure it covers the attractions you wish to see to get the most out of it. I believe it still includes the Hop On Hop Off Bus, which in Barcelona, is wonderful! It covers a lot of ground and sites. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Raval is okay but you need to be extra careful especially when walking in narrow streets where not much people walks at
@Azog150 Жыл бұрын
Don't let the locals put you off. I live in the city, and it does have a reputation. There are a few dodgy characters in Raval for sure, but in general Barcelona (including Raval) is a very safe city. You are very unlikely to ever be in physical danger. Just look out for your belongings and you'll be fine. If its night, there are a few quieter side-streets you might want to avoid, but they will be obvious to you. Raval is actually a fantastic area, with a lot of life and character. It's still part of the Old City with some beautfiul buildings, but also less chock-full of tourists who avoid it because of the reputation. Some of the best bars and clubs in the city are in Raval, and you won't get charged the tourist premium that you do elsewhere in the centre. Also, its closer to Poble Sec and Montjuic than the rest of the centre, which are both great areas well worth visiting.

@CORRTravel Жыл бұрын
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope you are more prepared for your October visit. Please know that October 12th is National Day of Spain holiday and Barcelona is bound to be crowded. Even though it's shoulder season, I would still get big ticket item tickets in advance if you are there during that weekend, just in case. The Barcelona Card should help, but confirm what 'skip the line' entries you are allowed and supplement the ones that are not. If you have the Barcelona Card, I'm unsure why you would need the T-Casual card as the Barcelona Card should cover public transportation. Always check the card details. Beyond that, I'm unsure as to what needed documentation you are referring to. I hope this was helpful!

Just spent two weeks in Spain and went from Barcelona to Sevilla. #1 complain of mine is the Spanish attitude, shortness, and some nastiness. I had always heard about French attidude towards tourists, but I have to say Spaniards, for now, hold the #1 position. It got so bad I wanted to leave at the end of week one. We didn't and kept going, but it took its toll on our overall mood about this trip. (It was bad enough, I will put this opinion on any Spanish travel blog/video I see!)

I would just Google 'electric wheelchair rentals barcelona' and you'll get results, like this one: www.motion4rent.com I would also stay in the Old Town area (like Gothic Quarter). It's pretty flat and easy to get around. I have suggested hotel links in the video description. I hope this helps and that you have a great time with your daughters!

With 2 days in Barcelona should we opt for the Hola transport Card and purchase a hop on hop off pass OR purchase the Barcelona card and skip the HOHO bus in your opinion?
@CORRTravel10 ай бұрын
Honestly, it comes down to what you want to see within those two days. If the Barcelona Card is worth it for attractions, then great. Bonus, however, is the HOHO bus (which covers a lot of ground in such a large city), airport transportation AND use of public transport for free and unlimitedly. Without your trip details, the Barcelona Card may be your better option. Have a great time!

Questions from a first time visitor: which city should I vist after Barcelona? Valencia, Sevilla or Bilbao?
@CORRTravel Жыл бұрын
Honestly, it depends on how much time you have and what you like to do. I've not been to Sevilla or Bilbao, but if it helps, Sevilla is on my bucket list. Valencia is AMAZING - my videos for Valencia will be coming. I highly recommend Valencia. If you like smaller towns, I would go to San Sebastian after Barcelona, hands down. One of my FAVE cities. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYSwnYyiibqtjqc in fact, I'm working on my 'Know Before You Go San Sebastian' video as we speak - should be out in a couple of days. If i get the card, does that mean i can just enter la sagrada and park guell whenever just by showing the card?
@CORRTravel Жыл бұрын
Read the card details so you know which attractions it covers. If covered, yes, you should just be able to show the card. However.... if you are going during peak season, I would highly ensure the card allows you to select pre-selected entry date and time so you're not standing in line. Arrange those entry dates and times as far in advance as possible.

Hi, your video seems to be suggesting that the Barcelona Card includes Hop On Hop Off bus tickets, but the Barcelona Card website says that it only provides a 10% discount for this. Can you please clarify?

I'm sorry for the confusion. I said that it included free public transportation, not free Hop On Hop Off bus tickets. Please see the details from the link I have provided. Hi, as a female solo female traveller would you recommend to stay in gothic quarter, Eixample or Sagrada? 😊🇪🇸💃🏼
@CORRTravel Жыл бұрын
As a female solo traveler, all of those will do. What matters really is how long you're going to be there and what you want to do. Barcelona is large so you may wish to stay more central to where you'll more than likely spend your days and nights. If I had to choose, though, between the 3 for any reason, I'd go with the Gothic Quarter. 😀
@Gemini-babykk1 Жыл бұрын
@@CORRTravel Thank you so much for the advise. I’m only going for four days to see if it would be somewhere I could potentially live. Just want to check out the vibe of Barcelona. I presume Gothic Quarter may be better as I won’t have to spend my short tome getting buses/transport, I’ll go check for accommodation there now ❤️🇪🇸
@CORRTravel Жыл бұрын
Ah! I see. Yes, you want to have as much time to scope out Barcelona in a short period of time. Now that I know it's for possibly living there, I suggest you try to spend one day checking out those other neighborhoods to get a feel for them as a possible place to live. Gothic Quarter is pretty central to see top things in Barcelona, but you may end of living a little further away from the Old City area where you'll need metro service? Just a thought. I just came from Barcelona. My advice is don't waste your time or money going over there. No parking, people don't smile, people are rude, They really don't like Americans and it's really boring. Lots of scammers. They are needy. They want want want but won't offer a cup of water... Bus drivers were rude and had several bad experiences for instance I was with two older ladies friends of mine eating at the beach when the waitress threw the bill at me half way through my meal and I asked why she did that her response was sometimes people get up and leave, mind you were sitting next to her. I spoke to her boss and he was rude as hell. People please take my word for it. Notice that not one person in the video is smiling. The worst trip I taken in my life.

Spain is about looking at antique places and sour people that only want give me give give me and not even a cup of water in return. Even at the airport I was treated different, they were rude. I just want to save people time and money. Look at your whole video and see nobody smiles and it's all about the €uros needed to spend.

@@rollyrol2644 Again, I'm so sorry to hear you say that. To be honest, you are not the first to say the Spaniards can be considered a "little rough around the edges", but we must consider cultural differences, yes? I just take them as they are and have honestly never experienced any rudeness. So, I truly do hope you'll go back to Spain and consider other locations. Valencia rocks. Madrid is lovely. San Sebastian cannot be beat. It's a large country so there are other options. If you don't to go back, consider Portugal. I live here and love it. And I've only ever experienced, and heard of, the kindness of the Portuguese. I've got videos on Portugal, too, and more will be coming! Keep that in your back pocket for future travel. 🙂

You had me until "eco friendly sunscreen" & Only traveling with a carry on to "save airplane fuel" That's just childish and catering to the ignorant...
@CORRTravel Жыл бұрын
Is it now? Well, all physics will tell you the heavier the plane, the more fuel is uses. But don't take my word for it as repeated scientific articles will tell you airplanes use more fuel during take off than at any other point in flight, for example: www.popsci.com/story/technology/airplane-fuel-dumping-landing-weight/ As a passenger you can assist in using less fuel in making the plane lighter either by: not flying at all OR bringing less baggage (i.e., fly carry on only). Plus, if you can contribute to a lighter plane, that's also less fuel the plane dumps during flight (a whole other environmental issue). So, I hope you would reconsider and fly the best you can with the planet in mind. Don't believe me. Believe the science. I would think anyone not willing to consider the science is willingly being childish and ... Eco-sunscreen? Have you even bothered to research how the chemicals from sunscreens are killing coral reefs and marine ecosystems? Yah, I doubt it, but I hope you start.
