Like a lot of guys I try to buy a Moon Clock every year, and then only refer to it sporadically throughout the year, more out of curiousity than anything else. It's a case of wanting it if I don't have it but ignoring it once I do have it. Last year I vowed to check and record the barameter and moon phases religiously every time I hit the water, and I did pretty well in keeping records. Didn't really notice much of a difference in catch rates though, being in the Midwest. I think the Moon Clock has more of an impact if you're on one of the coasts. But still, it's something I think about and I'll still buy my Moon Clock every year. I think it's become a lucky charm that I need to have in my gear. This how-to video is excellent, btw. I like how you gave a detailed hands-on tutorial on how to use the clock. Maybe I've been doing it wrong all along?!

I had forgotten about those until you mentioned them in the last video. When I was a younger man back in the early 80s, I always had my moon clock in my tiny tackle box. I don't think I followed its advice very well though, lol.

I follow solunar tables regularly, not so much for fishing, but birding and observing wildlife. It's mostly a curiosity thing. Sometimes it seems like there's something to it, especially when you see a lot of activity during predicted good times that occur in the mid-day or afternoons when you wouldn't normally expect it. Other times it seems like there is no relation whatsoever. I think there's a little something to it, but probably more for fish than other creatures. Other atmospheric features seem to be more important. But it's fun keeping an open mind and keeping an eye on the charts.

Hello, I have a watch that shows high and low tides. Do you think I could use this info on a similar way for bass fishing?

According to Hannon, it’s basically the same lunar forces, at the same time, that affects even landlocked fish like Bass.

Ah, Solunar Theory, the most pervasive mythology in all of outdoor sportsmanship. Beloved by townies and urbanites and scoffed at by almost everyone who lives in the woods. Just give me the scientific evidence. If the mythos is in fact reality it should be almost as easy as demonstrating gravity. Wait, what's that? No studies prove it and any that have seen a correlation can't be replicated? 😂
