Nice video. I am kinda new at silver collecting, and only buy Sunshine Silver bars with the security VALID feature on the back. The card can be bought on ebay for around $15. I think it is possible that this manufacturer could command a premium in the future considering this verification feature, because you know you are getting the real deal.

A good EDC kit to keep with you for a hard core guy like yourself ! Still putting my kit together... Have a Frankfort Arsenal DS-750 Digital Scale and a ten power Hastings Triblett hand lube and need to pick up a Rare Earth Magnet. And if near a kitchen then I can do an Ice Cube Test ! When you pick up a round or bar of silver you should notice the heat in your hand being drawn into it and the bar should warm quickly. One test I do is put them in the freezer for oh say 30 to 60 seconds and when you grab it - it will be at freezing (best heat and electricity conductor). Weight and magnet are good checks too as well as a caliper to make sure they meet specifications. Best advice - buy from a reputable dealer.

Why the heck would you buy something that said that (“In Clad”) on the back....and who the heck ever heard of that Mint on the front??? Even if you don’t have verifying paraphernalia with you, you have to stick to absolute, well known silver, to at least minimize the chance of buying a counterfeit piece.

+juan toledo you right, am new in silver staking so i do not hesitated to get that decoder card, for the price of one once, am sure i'll get what i want... assuming i'll get all my bullion from them. I like their Eagles, the security logo on reverse doesnt mess up the design, their bars looks great and their stuff are often cheaper... But the real reason why i bought the decoder is for when the time for selling will come! I want to secure the buyers about stuff i got!

If you want better accuracy and judgment on the weight of a troy ounce weigh in grams. 31.103 = 1 Troy Oz.

All that decoder card is, is a polarization card. Those can be picked up at any photography store, or any store that sells science stuff like imaginarium. You should be able to see the 'VALID' symbol by looking at the bar with polarized sunglasses on.

I jus orderd my my frst and big order for almost $10000 nzd, 38, 10oz sunshine minthing,the dealer does not look really promising as he has already delayed the delivery, my question is that if it desnt come with mark as its 2015 and your video is 2013 whn they starting puttin dis mark on, so if they doesnt hv that mark at the back, is it straight fake? ill buy the magnet as well to test, subscribed already to ur channel. regards

Thanks for the sub. A good dealer won't sell you anything fake because they afford to have there name get out as not being honest. It sounds like your order will come directly from the mint. Even after I noticed the error I decided to keep the clad as a life lesson for myself. Thanks GUP.

JM Bullion is a great place to buy Sunshine mint Rounds or Bars. Check every Monday for sales and you can pick them up for around 85 cents over spot. Buy 20 and you get the sealed tube that comes to JM Bullion directly from the Sunshine mint. If you have an old Computer Hard Drive they contain two rare earth magnets, just look on you tube for videos on how to remove. Amazon has a good American Weigh 100g x 0.01g Digital Scale. Its small enough to fit in your pocket and can be calibrated with 100 gram weight (a few more bucks to get one of those). Also pick up a digital caliper for less than $20. Amazon also sells silver and gold acid test kits for less than $20. For around $50 you can set your self up with a nice test kit that could save you the money (and embarrassment) of buying fakes.

I’ve bought from both Sunshine and JMB and I’ve always been very happy. I know people fuss and gripe about APMEX but I’ve been happy with them too. Yes they are a little expensive depending on what you buy but at least you know what you’re buying is real. I screwed up and bought a few random year cull Morgan’s from The American Coin Co but I learned my lesson. Lol

Scales are useless without measuring dimensions. I always go... 1. Dimension 2. Weight 3. Ping 4. Magnet 5. Acid (if it fails the other 4)

Although the dealer might have mistakenly sold you this bar as solid silver but wasn’t the mint being pretty honest by stamping “clad” on the bar? Lol Yeah they got a bit fancy-tongued with the overall statement “ in clad we trust” but after-all clad means to cover as in they covered some crap with silver plate? I dunno maybe it was just a Freudian slip by the fake mint! Lol
