He killed it though. Personally, I wouldn't trade if I had to write an essay about it first, but if you're trading for someone it's probably a must. Very professional.

having a playbook in this form of powerpoint presentation helps a lot, even if you don't present it to anybody to have all the things you want to or can see and how you will react to them all writed down, when the time comes it is a matter of discipline to follow, about execution, not about discretionary decisions, it is like they say, markets are already random enough, if you don't know precisely what you're gonna do in every situation you face, things are harder, plus, only by having a playbook and executing it to the crisp you can correctly back and forward test it Mike got a full book on this concept (The Playbook) not by chance, this matters, a lot

Awesome video. I think doing the trade reviews with newer students/interns is awesome. It's great to see the appropriate fairness and strictness of a review session. I hope we can see more videos like this because as less experienced trader it's SO beneficial to see areas of a trade review that I may have not considered in my own Journaling. Definitly picked up some awesome tips I'll be incorporating. Thanks Mike!

Excellent feedback. Thank you. Yes the newest guys are going to make more mistakes and have more omissions. And in a short amount of time they prove significant ly. We should have him back at the end of his training and see if he has improved. I bet he does.

This happened to me today. I traded an ORB today on AERC, and i forgot to check the float, which was only 4 million and my minimum float requirements are 20 million. Let's just say I got burned after the stock dropped 13% in 5 minutes into a halt. Luckily im a beginner trader using a very small amount of capital, but I was very mad at myself for making such a mistake.

Thank you for the breakdown ! I have some questions : Does the trade planning involve picking a single direction bias before the trade or is there a plan to trade both directions ? Also does the trading process involve what if scenarios, if so how many maximum and minimum ? Finally does the trader need to quickly cycle through the playbook set ups at the time of the trade to find which one fits best for the trade ? Or the number of possible playbook set ups are already clear before the trade ? For example from looking at how the stock traded last time with similar catalyst or how the stock trades in general
@smbcapital2 жыл бұрын
Traders are factoring all these you mentioned. The whole ideas of the PlayBook is to complete the review after the trade to reinforce best practices for the next similar trade

Just curious, do SMB traders do *purely* technical trades (without the need for changing fundamental news catalysts)? I noticed that most of these videos are changing fundamental trades where there is a company-specific news catalyst (i.e. earnings or other corporate news release). Often times the best trades are stocks without any news catalysts, but simply trade based on textbook technical patterns (i.e. long timeframe wedges, bounces/rejections off upward/downward trendlines, double/triple top & bottoms, etc.) which do not need catalysts to continue the patterns. I've noticed that SMB developing traders primarily take trades that have to have some recent or overnight news, causing them to take trades on certain (sometimes obscure) tickers that sometimes have a worse risk-to-reward profile vs. trading a textbook technical pattern on a large/mega-cap stock that does not have any recent news catalyst (such as stocks like AAPL or MSFT for example, which have had solid technicals without the need for news catalysts). My question is: do SMB traders ever trade *purely* technical trades such as technical patterns on indexes like SPY/QQQ/IWM and mega-cap stocks like AAPL/MSFT/GOOG/etc. (that do not have news catalysts associated with them)? Why force yourself to trade "whatever is hot that day" (sometimes obscure stocks) when you can trade *higher probability* textbook setups on indexes or mega-caps? I have personally found success trading the same 5-10 tickers (all indexes/ETFs/mega-caps/large-caps) based on purely technical patterns/levels, often without ever having news catalysts. In my opinion, I have found it easier to trade technical patterns (day/swing trades on indexes/large-cap/mega-cap stocks, which often have "cleaner" setups than less-known tickers) vs. chasing whatever is "hot" that day. Do you discourage your traders from trading indexes/mega-caps/etc. or maybe it is just a coincidence that the recent videos have all been "whatever is hot that day/week" type trades (often less-known or normally less-traded tickers)? Often times, the highest-probability setups are found on the indexes and mega-caps (which often do not have news catalysts associated with them). If that's not so, I'd like to request videos on purely technical analysis trades that are not changing fundamental trades, including more scalping and swing trade videos (on indexes and mega-cap stocks) please. Hope to hear your thoughts, thanks!

If you want to trade like PROFESSIONAL DO. You have to trade with news catalyst, that's where you have an edge. Hope that help.. and waiting for the same answer from bella!!
@907Blademan2 жыл бұрын
Pete I’d love to hear the answer too, and I’d add the spready nature of some of these sketch stocks as a check in your favor too. Mostly I trade a handful scalping options for 20-40% so I’m not on level these guys are and just trade the technicals, and often only the QQQ
@chrisv99772 жыл бұрын
It makes no sense to trade stocks without a news catalyst as these stocks tend to move much less intraday. You want to be in stocks in which there is an imbalance between buyers/sellers. Market stocks like AAPL/MSFT will trade much more randomly without news catalysts and you will have a harder time determining which side to take as high-frequency programs will shake you out more often than not. To avoid these programs, stick with stocks with a news catalyst as these programs often get run over when there is that much volume
@mbellafiore192 жыл бұрын
Yes we do. We want our traders to trade with a catalyst. A catalyst usually is a news catalyst. But there are times when the catalyst can be because of technicals. Steve does a terrific job on the channel highlighting technical trades.
@peterhernandez11042 жыл бұрын
@@eljuanramon @chris V That's absolutely incorrect, there are plenty of traders (myself included) who make a living purely trading (scalping/swing trading/etc.) market stocks & ETFs like SPY/QQQ/AAPL/MSFT/etc. You do not need a large mover to make money in the stock market, you can literally trade anything that moves at least 1% in a day, which is about any market stock in existence, SPY/QQQ/IWM included. If your concern is limited PnL due to the smaller move, then just trade options (or futures) on those stocks/ETFs which can move 75-100% for each 1% move on 0-2DTE options. In my opinion, you want to be trading stocks with the best setups (needless of any catalyst), rather than chasing whatever's hot that day. But it is also true that whatever's hot that day CAN have good setups (but not always); it is not mutually exclusive.

@@smbcapital Oh! That makes a tonne of sense, I thought it was a prerequisite to the trade and was wondering how they had time to make the presentation without missing their entry 😂🤦🏼♂️ Although, after my initial comment I did stop and think I really don’t do enough fundamental analysis, and subsequently do miss news related price movement so I can see the value in more of a deep dive beyond the candles & volume.

I love the tough love that you give your traders.I need some of it myself 😂..I also love the fact that it seems you want the best for all the traders at the desk.I’ve been trading for 2 years now and I practically taught myself everything.I’m glad to say watching you and your students has given me an Edge.I have read your book the “Playbook” so I know a lil bit of your back story.Mike I feel your amazing person ,but I have noticed an undeniable pattern between all your videos and all your students.In full transparency where are the black people Mike?…I truly believe that is the only thing that is holding you guys back from the next level.You are not serving every community fully with this knowledge and education,seems like you have a specific target audiences.Just an observation I maybe wrong….Yes it might be a tougher task,but it will be worth while when everything is all said and done.I know I’m not amazing trader yet,but I know I will be..Black people have some of the most distinguished and intelligent minds in the world,especially with the right guidance.Just Food for thought.God bless. Best Regards,Tyrone Goldson🙏🏾
