This song was recorded 46 years ago but the production was really such high quality that stood the test of time perfectly.Still sounds fresh n crispy,convincing and even more glorious.

The opening lines are among the most brilliant of any pop song. They set the scene so vividly, in so few words, conveying the heartbreak of the end of a marriage by evoking the departure from the family home. Amazing song, and musically exquisite. As usual with Abba, the bassline is *the business*.

One of my favorite songs, such a masterpiece. I especially love Fridas vocals and the harmonies are amazing. The music video is just iconic. You need to do The Name of the Game next it's my favorite ABBA song! They make me feel proud of being Swedish!

As hard as it is to pick one ABBA song as my favorite because I love so many..Name of the Game is my most favorite song too.
@thisworldofwater80172 жыл бұрын
The Name Of The Game is the number one for me, too. Although SOS drives it real close, partly because it hit me really hard as an 11-year-old. The ecstatic melancholy of that song pretty much moulded my musical taste.

Low budget video yet such a classic in the pop music culture.No special effects or other pompous tricks.Just these 4 exceptional people in a room.Nothing more needed.ABBA's incomparable vocal and visual chemistry was utopic.Out of this world.That was number 1 for 5 weeks despite being the 3rd and last single after 'Dancing Queen' and 'Money,Money,Money' off the clasic ARRIVAL album that was also N01 for 10 weeks and best seller of 1977 in the UK.I would gladly jump into the time machine to go back and walk barefoot upon broken glass to reach these two female angels and get hugged same way Benny and Bjorn was.Video to this ( called promo film at the time)was simple but iconic, flooding emotion to the max.

I'm so glad to see you again, with more reaction to ABBA songs "Knowing me knowing you" (1976) is one of ABBA's most famous heartthrob songs The lyrics are strong and raw (some say there is a preview of the couple conflicts between the blonde singer Agnetha & guitarist Björn) And it has a powerful chorus on Agnetha & Frida, and a nice melody These is an excellent official video, it shows the four of them in separation situations, and plays with the images of the trios The part that stands out the most is the appearance of the image of Agnetha almost whispering as a reflection of Frida's main voice "Knowing me knowing you" was five weeks in a row at #1 in the UK, and one of them coincided with the #1 of "Dancing Queen" on the Billboard. (Just this week of April 9, 1977, 45 years ago, ABBA was #1 in the U.S. and U.K. with two different songs from the same album Knowing me knowing you" is one of their hits that ABBA recorded in spanish at 1980, with the tittle: "Conociéndome, Conociéndote", part of their album in spanish language "Gracias por la música" (1980) ABBA recorded in spanish after the colossal success of "Chiquitita" (1979) in Latin American countries I ask you if you can give one more visit to this fantastic album "Arrival" There is a very special ballad: "My love My life" another heartbroken song with a very special video, because only the blonde singer Agnetha (the main voice) appears I highly recommend it Here I leave the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWjSmoqYdpubesU Or the first heartbroken ABBA song that was worldwide hit: "S.O.S." (1975) with a fantastic contrast between sadness lyrics, dramatic intro and cracking voice of Agnetha in her solo verse with powerful chorus and catchy rock tunes , a masterpiece in 200-seconds I hope to see you in next reaction to ABBA My best regards to You from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South América

That mix of harmonies is astonishing, first the girls and then joined to those from the boys 👌 Just in case you are not familiar with the group, by those days they became actually two couples, 1:31 Agnetha and Björn and 2:07 Anni Frida and Benny.
@christianoazzuro67112 жыл бұрын
2:01 ...Agnetha's striking blue eye shadowed passionate look/.... 3:42 Frida's devastated facial expression while 'being abandonded' , both shooting arrows to a human heart.Their great and then famous director Lasse Hallstrom knew excactly how to value visualy these two gorgeous faces same way Benny and Bjorn did in the studio with their heavenly harmonies.That was a fatal coexistence.

Hey Luke, you only have about, ooh, 20 or 30 absolutely stellar Abba tunes to go. Godspeed! PS. I was pleased you noticed those countermelodies in the chorus. There are a LOT of details like that in Abba songs. They were big on cramming every nook and cranny with hooks and just...sheer musicality.
