Knowing When to Head Back!!!

Why take unnecessary risks when kayak fishing?
I've had a few close calls over the years but will NEVER put myself in those situations again.
In this video, the conditions change, making it very dangerous and less enjoyable to be out there. Knowing your limits, always taking safety equipment, and following your instincts at all times are my advice.

Hi mark, Was out off Petone 2 weeks ago and caught a couple Ratty Kingys and a whole bunch of good sized kahawai close to Matiu Island some pretty good fishing out in welly harbor surprised me to see some Kingys. This is great advice for people starting out in the sport/hobby. Thanks to your channel and a couple other kiwi Kayak fishermen here on KZbin It made me start out a year ago and have never looked back just brought my second Kayak. Such a thrill catching fish on Kayaks and so much more rewarding than your typical boat trip. Love the content and always look forward to seeing a new video from you cheers mate.

was told awhile ago when pulling the anchor in a rush to just throw the line out the back and wind it up once you have the anchor on board

That is a really good idea and makes total sense. Ive been in those situations when the weather changes and I've been desperate to get the anchor on board. Thanks Andrew 😁

@@FamilyKitchenwithMark having the anchor line throw out the back stops any tangles while it's floating in the water instead of a bunch of line on the kayak/lap - which can be dangerous
