one question for you though, why so many Christians in the USA put this big focus on "Jewish" stuff but never ask the actual Jewish people about our own stuff... I can assure you one thing, a Jewish year never lines up with a gregorian year, Jewish years are either 353-5 or 383-5 days long... we have shorter years but add a month every few years, and the months are set by moon cycles... also the Shabbat is Saturday, Saturday in Hebrew is called Shabbat, it just Jewish calendar was made before the idea of a 24 hours day, so the day switch at sunset, not at six in the evening nor midnight, since hours don't really exist in Jewish calendars. all of this is just scratching the surface.

It blows me away that these people are like, "I have exhaustively studied The Bible, and Jesus will return in this month [insert month and math here]."They studied and made an these connection but overlook the bit where Jesus straight up says, "No one but I know when I'll return, and I'm not going to tell, so pay attention cause I'll take you by surprise." It is about as clear as anything in the Bible gets, and there are a bunch of other illustrations of how Christians are not going to know. All that stuff about the tarrying bridegroom is telling believers to be ready and follow Christ at all times, because no one will know when the return will happen, so all you can do is wait and follow.

Hello, former Adventist here. Yes, Adventists today generally interpret that passage of Matthew 24 to mean what you said. No one will know when Jesus is coming down to the hour, and anyone who claims to know is likely a heretic. Adventists just believe the end times are vaguely soon and that there are some things that will happen that will make the fact that the end times are coming clear to believers, albeit not down to the hour. Adventists believe that before the Second Coming, the United States will become a theocracy and dominate the world which...just might happen after all. KB will probably get into investigative judgment and the remnant church and all that. I just started the video.

@Syndie77-gk4xk Yeah I was raised in an evangelical household. My dad has basically been kicked out of the church for not being a devoted follower of the One True God (Donald J. Trump) and for actually advising Christians to pay attention to a Jesus. The idea of "vaguely soon" like you said pretty well holds with modern evangelicals too, but I wasn't making that comment in reference to what groups think now. I was referencing how several groups over time keep trying to do a thing that Jesus told them like 50 times not to do because it can't be done, and if they had studied the Bible as deeply as they claim, they'd obviously understand the futility of their predictions.

The council of Nicea (ad 325) happened in order to resolve a conflict between the two main branches of christianity at the time, but it did not make christianity the state religion or decide the canon of the bible. Constantine actually continued to allow and sanction pagan worship throughout his entire reign, and one of his successors, Julian (sometimes known as Julian the Apostate) even tried to promote paganism after christianity had become mainstream, but it wasn't until Theodosius that the empire was officially christian.

@lilygirllisa That is a very good question. Many people have to answer it. Many will leave the more this is known for sure. This is the predictable consequence of the leaderships cover-up. I am not a pastor or church employee. As a Christian, I focus on the Bible and accepting Christ into my life. I don't care what the church leadership says or declares. As a firm Protestant, I don't have a go between between me and my Savior. My spiritual life is mine and mine alone. What I'm trying to say is that I don't care about church leadership or their opinions or failures. Like the video said, Adventist are pretty middle of the road Christians who just keep Saturday. I am comfortable with being a Christian and worshipping on Saturday. I can re-evaluate the unique Adventist teachings. I want to look into the Adventist end time ideas again, and I already have different views on that investigative judgment thing. The "plagerist" also copied some interesting stuff, and I can evaluate that material for myself and determine if I agree or not. If all you do is go to regular service or their k-12 schools, she is largely absent. You know the name but they didn't teach or reference her. They bring her out only once you are committed to the church and want to dig deeper into the religion by going to study groups or people giving you material you should study on your own. It is always a stack of her books, lol. It is almost as if she is taboo but they keep her "in" because she is likely a good stream of revenue for the church. She is one of history’s great Christian authors. Up there with all of the other 19th century famous Christian evangelists. The only reason she isn’t mainstream and well known is because she is shunned by association with a movement that upholds the existence of prophecy in the modern day. Any Christian church that claims that they have prophets/ prophecy is shunned from mainstream acceptance. But the Bible says that there would be prophets in the modern day - Acts 2:16-21 ”But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy“. Yes there are false prophets and true prophets and the Bible says that Matthew 7:15-17 ”Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit“. Ellen G White was a deeply analytical and practical student of the Bible, continuously pointing people back to it and Jesus and her prophecies always bore fruit in improving people‘s lives and happiness. It is clear when when reading these comments, who is actually acquainted with her works.

I was raised in a end times SDA family. Best way to describe Adventists is that they're a more mainstream version of JW's in that they sometimes get into the doomsday stuff (depending on the church) but still believe in crosses and celebrating holidays with an emphasis on vegetarianism.

Yeah, I was raised SDA as well and I agree. The mainstream SDA church are like self-aware JWs who are overly concerned with seeming normal and not like a cult so they can fit in with other evangelicals or gain new members. They’re more popular than the JWs so it might be working.

@@danielandrada4740the radicalness and severity of every SDA group I've met seems to just vary a lot. Generally I've noticed it's just them going about Love and Tolerate, Be a Good person while serving good food. I got to tell you. Nothing is more disappointing than when a favorite creator covers a topic where one has personal expertise and blows it. It shatters trust in all of their other content. Well as a life long, and now ex-, mormon I have to say that the KB vid on the mormons is an absolute masterpiece... factually, contextually and tonally it is utterly flawless in its depiction of mormonism. 10 out of 10. Absolutely no notes. So im juiced for this latest installment. 🍿🍿🍿 Edit: just for clarity I was out of the church for a few years before I saw the KB mormons video. But it was noteworthy that from the outside KB was both so accurate and so even handed. Seeing him operate with this level of depth and fair mindedness has boosted my confidence in all the other KB content. Cheers.

What a great video! As fairly recent EX-Adventist of many decades, I've never been happier to be EX. The whole "Sanctuary message" never made sense to me, and I almost got fired from Loma Linda Univ Medical Center back in the 80s for getting my ears pierced. I asked one of my older brothers (a church elder) once why the church was so determined to have "Daniel & Revelation" seminars (meetings to recruit new members). Why did the church have to focus on the monsters and weird, scary stuff instead of Jesus and his teachings? He said it was because it was what people wanted to hear. And I think that's why the church membership got more and more focused on conspiracies over the years - because those were the people they were actively recruiting.

Former SDA here (now hardcore atheist). SDAs aren't bad people (generally) but are DEEPLY DEEPLY confused about the world. There isn't a part of your life that this religion won't affect or sabotage. This religion will infect your ability to think rationally about LITERALLY every facet of life including: - Self Esteem - Sense of self - Social Life - Relationships (Friends, Family, Romantic, Sexual etc) - Career - Critical Thinking Skill - Normal Life Experiences - Maturity And Growth As A Human Being - Diet (Though in defense of the SDAs they do live longer on average due to the 'Health Message', this is the only pro to SDAism) - General World View - Politics - History - Philosophy - Science - Psychology - World Events (I'm barely scratching the surface) I'm not sure I will ever fully recover from being a Seventh Day Adventist seeing as the brainwashing is so complete, all encompassing and fundamentalist in nature. Leaving it literally feels like having your skeleton removed, even after a decade I'm still picking up the pieces (and trying to grow a new skeleton lol). It's kinda like culture shock on steroids, but worse, I guess (imagine moving to China or something). I've literally put myself in dangerous situations over the BS I used to believe. The whole religion is based on: - Failed prophecies (Like all of them) - Retroactive prophecy Interpretation All of the 'successful' prophecies were interpreted after the events which literally makes no sense. That would be like me predicting the results of the 2024 Summer Olympic now AFTER the event. For some strange reason SDAs don't seem to notice this obvious idiocy - Ambiguous nonsense Even if the predictions were accurate (Which they are not), the language of the prophecies is so vague that it could be interpreted in literally 10000s of ways (as it is by other denominations) - Never ending confirmation biases Young earth creationism, ignoring/conveniently reinterpreting failed prophecies, contradictions etc It's definitely not the worst religion/cult but it's pretty bad Avoid this intellectually deficient horseshit like the plague!! Don't end up like me ☹ 0/10 Would not recommend

I'm currently an Adventist. Do you have any questions for me? How about this? I am glad this video came out. I like a lot about the Adventist religion a lot, but I'm my own person, and I want the truth. I heard about The White Lie a few years ago. I can defend the Bible, but I can't defend EGW's fraud or the leadership's cover-up. People need to meet Jesus and not follow some church organizations or questionable leaders. While I attend an Adventist church, I ignore the leadership of the church, and I don't read their publications.

@@americanswanSure, how exactly do you have earth before light, according to Genesis? Given that photons and stars (plus supernova) had to form first to even allow a rocky body like earth to form at all it's impossible for earth to come before light.
@slendy53674 ай бұрын
@thunderspark1536 I'm Adventist as well, there's a prominent sect inside of the church that follow the big bang to a T, they view God as the one who caused it, most see those beginning words more like a metaphor but not literal, do be aware that those who believe it are usually doctors and similar high leading professions.

@@thunderspark1536 Thank you for the question. God is God, as such He isn't restricted. You seem to assume God was restricted in some way. God spoke light into existance after the darkness. The creation of light could have been some form of supernova, but that implies some sort of time that God was limited again and had to wait x amount of time for the supernova to create earth. That limitation just doesn't exist with God. God creates time. I wasn't there to see how God did that. But it seems reasonable to me that there was darkness x time and then light appeared at God's word for x time and the first day occured. I don't have the exact answer. If there were absolutely no unknowns, would He be God?

9:54 As someone who studies Religious Education and is also a huge Bible nerd, the church-woman-association basically comes from Ephesians 5 : 21-33, in which men are told to "love [their] wives as Christ loves the church" and so on. This caused the image of Christ as "the husband" and the church as "his bride" to get really popular, it never really went down in conservative Christian circles. (I heard that practically every Sunday during my childhood.)

Additionally, we also know that in ancient times Babylon was a shorthand meaning tyranny in general due to the Babylonian captivity. So St. Peter calling Rome Babylon was a clever way to associate the tyranny of the captivity with the persecution of early Christian’s!
