Salam Sayed. Ahsant for this lecture The reformists and also the salafis quote Surah Anaam v.50 and Surah Aaraf v.188 to deny ilmul ghayb of the Holy Prophet (sawa)? Can u shed light what these verse mean?

Question: if Divine knowledge is not subject to evolution, how can we reconcile the evolution of religious scriptures--from the old to new testament--even though they were sent down to prophets?

Thank you for this great presentation Sayedna I learned a lot and inshAllah I can benefit from future lectures. I'm not sure if you take questions but I'll go ahead and ask anyway: 1. I had a question regarding the difference between empirical and divine knowledge. Can the domain of those two overlap? for example, can the divine knowledge encompass and teach about the natural world? 2. If the holy Prophet and the Imams acquire knowledge from God, do they still undergo the seeking of knowledge as they have greatly emphasized? or is there no need since their knowledge is already perfect? Or perhaps they do seek knowledge but in just a different way than we do? I hope my questions are clear and I hope you can help me. Thanks again Sayedna!

As for the first question. Ahlul Bayt ع have knowledge about all the sciences. Natural sciences and beyond. For Them it is not fitting to acquire knowledge like we do since they are the containers of knowledge and it stems from them. The Prophet ص said He is the city of knowledge and Ali is The gate. Their knowledge is perfected since it is directly from Allah swt and any knowledge we have is from them whether directly or indirectly. Now personally i dont think they "seek" knowledge.. from whom and what would they do that? If they needed to know a thing (meaning if Allah wanted them to know something) they simply would since Allah holds all knowledge and they are the first recipients to receive it. (Bottom bit was my opinion i am not a scholar)

Good questions @mrhollywise2. If the Prophets and Imams themselves acquired knowledge from other mortal people, then it will mean that they no longer are the most knowledgeable of their time. It implies that they have lack of knowledge about a subject matter while some other person has more knowledge than them and if there is someone more knowledgeable than them, then where is the need to follow the Prophets and the Imams? The teacher is superior in knowledge to the student, so if the Prophets and the Imams are themselves someone else’s student, then they are no longer superior in their status. Even the Holy Qur'an points to the fact in a number of verses, for eg: Is He then Who guides to the truth more worthy to be followed, or he who himself does not go aright unless he is guided? What then is the matter with you; how do you judge? (Surah Yunus: 35) Say: Are those who know and those who do not know alike? Only the men of understanding are mindful. (Surah Zumar: 9) About this > “If the holy Prophet and the Imams acquire knowledge from God”, we don’t say that they acquired knowledge from God, rather we say knowledge was “revealed” to them either through archangel Jibra’il (as) or through inspiration similar to how God inspires a bee as mentioned in the Holy Qur’an (16:68).
