From "Fire!". Polyester Eastman LPP stock dated 1987. While the film scan is 4K, this was a videotape to film transfer, so the program still looks soft. You can only get so much quality out of a videotape to film transfer.

I’ve never seen a filmed variant of the PBS “Split” logo before, because it’s extremely rare. This print was from 1987, because 16mm films were very late in the run, and video tapes like VHS and Betamax has taken over replacing 16mm films

A print of “Cuba: In the Shadow of Doubt” on Internet Archive has this logo, but with no sound. That was the first time I ever saw this logo on film. I never thought I’d own a print with it, let alone a version with sound.

That's because the logo's frame rate is 24fps, the same frame rate as film.

Where did you get this? I remember spending hundreds on episodes of Nova and Enterprise back in 2019 in hopes of getting a 16mm WGBH logo, only to come up short.

I got this in February 2022 through a private sale from someone I met over on the film forums. I know a few people who occasionally sell me prints. Most of the prints I’ve added since 2021 have come from private sales.

All of my reels come from eBay. I'll have to try that out someday. Would love to see what the WGBH logo looks like on the filmstrip.
