These are various PBS satellite feeds captured before and after episodes of "The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer" and additional programs. These are not all of the feeds I found.

*There is an accidental inclusion of a 2006 feed from 1:14-1:42.

I have no earthly idea what this is or means, but yet I am here. The algorithm works in mysterious ways.

I vaguely remember seeing a PBS slate, around 1997-99, being accidentally shown on one of my 2 local PBS stations (KMOS-TV, Ch. 6 in Sedalia\Warrensburg, MO & KCPT-TV, Ch. 19 in Kansas City, MO.). From what I can remember, the slate had a PBS logo on it that was colored red & blue & that it seemed like I saw it in front of some PBS kids show that was on the air at the time. I had only seen it once & have been hoping that it would turn up in one of these compilations.

I’m kindof confused. Are these basically like run-in/run-out grooves on records, but for TV broadcasts or something? What’s the context?
@TheVintageTVArchive2 ай бұрын
Sure, you could describe it that way. PBS showed these slates before programs for the benefit of stations that recorded the programs to tape.

@@TheVintageTVArchive ohhhh, so it’s basically a signal to start recording?

@Zawmbbeh These slates would be the start of the recording for a station's archives. It displays crucial information about the media.

How did you find these? Pretty cool!

I browse through the website for the American Archive of Public Broadcasting and collect them.
