Same with every new work of Eminem , they might be better than his older work , but still the older works are more praised cuz they were new and unexpected , now this level of greatness is expected and just taken for granted in case of Em.

There were five samples in the song: ‘Bad Guy’ by Eminem ----------------------- 1. ‘Hocus Pocus’ by Walter Murphy (1974) (Which is the drum loop used throughout the first whole half of the song up until the “I also represent anyone on the deceiving end of those jokes you offend” part) --------------------------- 2. ‘Long Red (Live)’ - Mountain (1972) (Which are the distorted yelling vocals used throughout the first half of the song. (It’s al little hard to hear.) -------------------------- 3. ‘Soana’ by Gian Piero Reverberi (1976) (The first 18 seconds of this track make up the main Orchestral beat used in the final verse.) ----------------------- 4. ‘You are - I am’ by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band (1979) (Which are the interpreted patterns of the orchestra strings on top of the Soana sample in the final verse.). -------------------------- 5. ‘Ode To Billie Joe’ by Lou Donaldson (1967) (Which is the drum loop used throughout at the final verse. )

Well, well, @alex_harnar_618, you were so close that I almost thought you were a human with superpowers! But alas, the official record states that the samples used in the song are quite different from what you guessed. They are so different that they come from a different planet! Here are the samples used, according to the intergalactic music database: - Soana by Gian Piero Reverberi (1976) - Multiple Elements (from the planet Zorgon) - Ode to Billie Joe by Lou Donaldson (1967) - Drums (from the planet Xalax) - Hocus Pocus by Walter Murphy (1974) - Drums (from the planet Krynn) - Long Red by Mountain (1972) - Vocals / Lyrics (from the planet Zoltar) - Criminal by Eminem (2000) - Vocals / Lyrics (from the planet Tharos) - Stan by Eminem feat. Dido (2000) - Vocals / Lyrics (from the planet Krynn) - Desperados by D12 (1997) - Vocals / Lyrics (from the planet Zorgon) You see, it's not just about the Earthly samples but also the intergalactic ones! I hope this information helps you on your cosmic journey.

You gotta do "Rhyme or Reason" now, and the "Parking Lot-skit" right before it. It picks up where the skit in "Criminal" left off and "Rhyme or Reason" would be an amazing breakdown from you. Wordplay, flow, punchlines. Probably my favorite off that album tbh 👍🔥
@ar3568row3 жыл бұрын
"here goes a wild stab in the dark" , there was a line after that as well , "as we pick up the last Mather's left offs" , he intentionally made that so low , it symbolizes that only those who were focused and stayed with him till the very end will be able to catch / enjoy his last few left offs . Now obviously Knox had to speak about the line before that , so he didn't catch it , though , I'm pretty sure he would have caught it if he was just listening alone. Only real stans (those who stayed with Em till the very end in all those years) will catch that last line without lyrics.

Bad guy is a cinematic storytelling masterpiece like Stan with even superior writing those songs could both be made into movies. His skills has advanced from his older work but thats praised more cause his older songs are iconic classics while his greatness is now expected so newer songs are taken for granted & anything less then his level of perfection is trashed even when it’s good. I don’t think there’s a hiphop artist with this amount of pressure to meet such a high bar of expectations. He’s truly the goat 🐐

The amount of similarities between Bad Guy and Stan. It's crazy. Also, I bought this album the day it came out. And, the first time that I listened to this song. That last part of the song: So one last time, I'm back Before it fades into black and it's all over Behold the final chapter in the saga Trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle Twice the magic that started it all Tragic portrait of an artist tortured Trapped in his own drawings Tap into thoughts Blacker and darker than anything imaginable Here goes a wild stab in the dark As we pick up the last Mathers left off. My first initial thought: This is the last album that he'll be releasing. And, it honestly scared me. I was like, "Is he finally calling it quits? I pray to God that he isn't." Second thought: Where he said, "Here goes a wild stab in the dark. As we pick the last Mathers left off." Maybe he has the fuel for one last album. Maybe he's teasing us. My realization that he's still putting albums to this day: HELL YEAH BABY!

MMLP2 is definitely one of my favorite of his comeback LPs. Relapse and Revival are underrated. I'm even guilty of sleeping on Revival but after drawing a line in the sand a man has to choose between his country or a person who hasn't been on the frontlines of daily interactions in a few decades almost. Someone who was clearly giving into stupid trends in the music industry and shit he felt like he needs to support cause deep down, eminem does give too much of a fuck. But I was bumping relapse since I found out he came back in 09. Loved recovery tho it was too polished. MMLP2 was em further pushing his ability. Revival is more of that boombap feel at times. Songs like offended and heat come to mind. I skip over his white guilt songs on there. Its disgusting. Especially since him being white was a disadvantage for him at first. But there's some really really great songs on there. Even a sequel to a the relapse song 3am. Kamikaze had some bangers but to me wasn't a full LP. It was like 11 tracks with 2 skits? But nonetheless again pushes his capabilities and really the only thing I didn't like was maybe the Jesse Reyes songs, just okay and the fact that he reversed the word, "faggot" in fall and then apologized for it with sway, saying he didn't realize all the other people he hurt by saying it, again showing that he very much does give a fuck. Even though sway and em were just discussing that attitude a minute before about why he would go after him in the first place. He said it goes both ways. He doesn't give a fuck what happens but he will attack you. Ironically he ended up cucking. But anyway M2BMB is beautiful as well as side b cause I fell off eminem at encore but jumped back in with relapse and got every LP when it came out til Revival. Even got shady xv. but this comment is long enough. Doubt anyone will read it all but whatever. It needed to be said

I remember losing my mind while driving my wife's Mustang GT on the Gulf Coast when this last verse hit. I was picturing the story and straight up left the Earth at the beat drop and the crazy low voice in unison with his gutteral and aggressive flow and tone. Sorry for the rant. I have been watching your break downs for years now but almost never comment, but like every one! Keep up the perspectives, they are all food for thought!!

I always have my own version of a music video playing when I listen to Bad Guy ever since I heard it as a kid and for that last verse it's like Matthew is in the driver's seat and as the bubbles stop his eyes open with a demonic light behind them and he starts spitting that verse and I can see Shady in the trunk fighting trying to untie himself and refusing to accept his death even as the water is rushing in and he's choking and it just all ties in, and at the very end when the beat changes and his voice starts fading away it's a view of the car sinking into the deep darkness of the water. It's always a very surreal feeling when I hear this song and it's incredible that this is how Eminem decided to kick off the album. It sets a tone for the rest of the album being his attempt to reconcile and show that he's grown and is bigger and better than ever, but then at the very end with the final lyrics of Evil Twin he embraces Shady and says "we are the same, bitch". MMLP2 tells a story that's lost on so many people that just listen to tracks individually (including me for several years). Essentially this was Eminem integrating his shadow (Jungian philosophy) and becoming so much greater than he ever could've been when Shady was just an alter ego. I mean, he declared himself the god of rap on this album and NO ONE came for him at the time and in Evil Twin he declared himself both the third and fourth best rappers, right behind Biggie and Pac. Really can't say just how much I love this album and wish it got more love but people overlook it and still say they want the old Eminem.

This is one of those rare sequels that is better than the original. But only by a hair! Keep up the good work Knox. Because of you I'm in the habit of breaking down the entire Em catalog. Thanks!

This song becomes creepier after in 2020 a guy named Matthew broke into Em's house, got past his body guards, and Em met him in his own living room. Had to keep him distracted while police were called =/

It's not the first time though that his contents became reality! In the song like toy soldiers, proof played the roll of bugz the former d12 member who got killed by gunshot, only to be killed after 2 years by the same way
@CrazeeAdam3 жыл бұрын
@@tsumukarimuramasa oh yeah Toy Soliders is probably a track he can't listen too and no way he can watch that video any more :( I'm sure there was regret when Proof actually died :( Tupac had much of the same things in his songs towards the end of his life. some people just know things...even if they don't see it at the time..they know maybe subconsciously

Hey Knox, I think you'd get a trip from Tori Amos' cover of '97 Bonnie & Clyde. She recorded the thing laying in a closed box, said of her cover that she was singing it as if she was the woman's voice from the trunk. The twist in perspective along with the same lyrics and Tori's performance is absolutely haunting. Love your channel, been learning tons about a genre I had very little knowledge of.

Bad Guy Lyrics Part 1: Produced by S1 and M-Phazes [Verse 1: Eminem] It's like I'm in the dirt, diggin' up old hurt Tried everything to get my mind off you, it won't work All it takes is one song on the radio, you're Right back on it, reminding me all over again how you fuckin' just brushed me off and left me so burnt Spent a lot of time tryna soul search Maybe I needed to grow up a little first Well, looks like I hit a growth spurt But I'm coming for closure Don't suppose an explanation I'm owed For the way that you turned your back on me Just when I may have needed you most Oh, you thought it was over? You could just close the Chapter and go about your life like it was nothing You ruined mine, but you seem to be doing fine Well, I've never recovered But tonight, bet you that what you're 'Bout to go through's tougher than anything I ever have suffered Can't think of a better way to define poetic justice Can I hold grudges? Mind saying, "Let it go, f this!" Heart's saying, "I will, once I bury this b alive Hide the shovel and then drive off in the sunset" [Chorus: Sarah Jaffe] I flee the scene (The scene) like it was my last ride You see right through (Right through) Oh, you had me pegged the first time You can see the truth (The truth) But it's easier to justify what's bad is good And I hate to be the bad guy (The bad guy) I just hate to be the bad guy (The bad guy) Follow me (Follow me), I ruh-uh-un, follow me, I ruh-uh-un I just hate to be the bad- [Verse 2: Eminem] And to think I used to think you was the To think it was you at one time I worshipped? Think you can hurt people and just keep getting away with it? Not this time, you better go and get the sewing kit, Finish this stitch, so you can reap what you sew, nitwit Thought some time would pass and I'd forget it? Forget it You left our family in shambles You expect me to just get over him, pretend he never existed? May be gone but he's not forgotten And don't think 'cause he's been out the picture so long that I've stopped the plotting and still ain't coming to get ya You're wrong and that thing was rotten And the way you played him's same thing you did to me, cold Have you any idea the that I've gone through? Feelings I harbor? All this pent-up resentment I hold on to? Not once you call to ask me how I'm doing Letters, you don't respond to 'em Frick it, I'm coming to see you And gee, who better to talk to than you? The cause of my problems My life is garbage, and I'm 'bout to take it out on ya Poof, then I'm gone, voosh [Chorus: Sarah Jaffe] I flee the scene (The scene) like it was my last ride You see right through (Right through) Oh, you had me pegged the first time You can see the truth (The truth) But it's easier to justify what's bad is good And I hate to be the bad guy (The bad guy) I just hate to be the bad guy (The bad guy) Follow me (Follow me), I ruh-uh-un, follow me, I ruh-uh-un I just hate to be the bad guy Follow me, I ruh-uh-un, follow me, I ruh-uh-un [Verse 3: Eminem] I've been drivin' around your side of this town Like nine frickin' hours and forty-five minutes now Finally, I found your new address, park in your drive Feel like I've been waitin' on this moment all of my life And it's now arrived and my mouth is full of saliva My knife is out and I'm duckin' on the side of your house See, it's sad it came to this point Such a disappointment I had to make this appointment To come and see ya, but I ain't here for your empathy I don't need your apology or your friendship or sympathy It's revenge that I seek So I sneak vengefully, and treat your bedroom window Like I reach my full potential-I peeked (Haha) Continue to peep, still bent low, then keep Tapping the glass lightly then start to crescendo, sneak All the way 'round to the back porch Man, door handles unlocked, shouldn't be that easy to do this You don't plan for intruders beforehand? Surprised to see me? Cat got your tongue? Gag, chloroform rag, dag, almost hack-up a lung Like you picked an axe up and swung, stick to the core plan Dragged to the back of a trunk by one of your fans Irony's spectacular, huh? Now who's a fool you punk? And here's your Bronco hat, you can have that back 'cause they suck It's just me, you, and the music now, Slim, I hope you hear it We're in a car right now-wait, here comes my favorite lyric "I'm the bad guy who makes fun of people that die" And hey, here's a sequel to my Mathers LP just to try to get people to buy How's this for a publicity stunt? This should be fun Last album now 'cause after this you'll be officially done Eminem killed by M and M, Matthew Mitchell B I even have your initials I initially was gonna bury you next to my brother, but f it Since you're in love with your city so much, I figured, what the f, the best place you could be buried alive is right here Two more exits, time is quite near Hope we don't get stopped, no license I fear That sirens I hear? Guess ninety on the freeway wasn't the brightest idea As cops appear in my driver's side mirror (Oh, God! Police! Agh!) Hope Foxtrot gets an aerial shot of your burial plot, at least New plan, Stan! Slim: "Chauvinist pig drove in this big Lincoln Town Car" Well, gotta go, almost at the bridge Ha ha, big bro, it's for you; Slim, this is for him And Frank Ocean; oh, hope you can swim good Now say you hate homos again! Part 2: Produced by StreetRunner [Verse 4: Eminem *cue demoinc voice*] I also represent anyone on the receiving end of those jokes you offend I'm the nightmare you fell asleep and then woke up still in I'm your karma closin' in with each stroke of a pen Perfect time to have some remorse to show for your sin Nope, it's hopeless, I'm that denial that you're hopelessly in When they say all of this is approaching its end But you refuse to believe that it's over, here we go all over again Back's to the wall, I'm stackin' up all them odds Toilets clogged, yeah, 'cause I'm talkin' a lot of shit, but I'm backin' it all up But in my head there's a voice in the back and it hollers After the track is demolished I am your lack of a conscience I'm the ringing in your ears I'm the polyps on the back of your tonsils Eating your vocal cords after your concerts I'm your time that's almost up that you haven't acknowledged Grab for some water But I'm that pill that's too jagged to swallow I'm the bullies you hate that you became with every [homo] you slaughtered comin' back on ya Every woman you insult, batter, but the double-standard you have when it comes to your daughters I represent everything you take for granted 'Cause Marshall Mathers, the rapper's persona Is half a facade, and Matthew and Stan's just symbolic Of you not knowin' what you had 'til it's gone 'Cause after all the glitz and the glam No more fans that are calling your name Cameras are off, sad, but it happens to all of them I'm the hindsight to say, "I told you so!" Foreshadows of all the things that are to follow I'm the future that's here to show you what happens tomorrow If you don't stop after they call ya Biggest laughing stock of rap who can't call it quits When it's time to walk away, I'm every guilt trip The baggage you have, but as you gather up all your possessions If there's anything you have left to say 'Less it makes an impact then don't bother So 'fore you rest your case better make sure you're packing a wallop (A wallop) [Outro: Eminem] So, one last time, I'm back 'Fore it fades into black and it's all over Behold the final chapter in a saga Tryna recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle Twice, the magic that started it all Tragic portrait of an artist tortured Trapped in his own drawings Tap into thoughts blacker and darker than anything imaginable; Here goes a wild stab in the dark Uh, as we pick up where the last Mathers left off

Can't believe I'm only just hearing this track man. That final verse is easily one of his best. So underrated though, he really should've released this back in the day and made a video etc. I bet loads of people don't even know there is a follow up to Stan.

Might be a stretch, but “almost to the bridge now” is said right before the bridge of the song as well.

I had the weard dream Last night... 10 years from now, i went to Knox Hills show in Detroit. Big banners "10 years of Chaos" every where. The show was epic and for biss Knox said:" we are in one big town, friends. One of the Best was born here. Lets do the Last song for him." Bad guy start, mr. Hill is going in.... Last verse Em pop up from the crowd to back him up. Knox was in shock, but still kept going. They huged at the end and all good stuff. It was a nice dream. We have 10 years.. Me to Come from Europe, knox to get that big... Lets Gooooo

There’s also a lot of little things that show you how crazy Stan is. He never calls him eminem he calls him “Slim” to show that he can’t see between the lines of reality, also the “Phil Collins” things which is not true. He also shows how desperate he is by saying his little brother is a bigger fan of him than he is but he said that he was his number 1 fan.
