Awesome analysis as always! It's very impressive how you can understand many bars and references even better than native spanish speaking people. Only one that you didn't get is when he says at the end of the chorus "esto no es de la mata, el que la mata soy yo". He is referring to "reagueatón de la mata", that is a term to "old school reagueatón". By that time when this session was released, i remember someone from music industry said "reagueatón is dead, becouse new school reagueatón cant compare to reagueatón de la mata". So Nicky took that and made it a bar. He is basicaly saying: "This is not "reagueaton de la mata", I am the one that kills it".

Hey Knox!! When Nicky says “Esto no es de la mata. El que la mata soy yo”.. It’s a bar that makes reference to a past controversy, an OG Panamanian producer named ‘El Chombo’ who has a channel dedicated to talking about the Urban genre from his experience bc he has been there since it all started, said in one of his videos that Reggaeton was dead, that the urban genre has been absorbed by the Pop mainstream industry, and so he said Old reggaeton was more like the music produced in the times of Tego and Hector el Father, he called that “reggaeton de la mata 🌱 “ , as in a mata (plant/root/natural), not mixed with pop beats or edm. So Chombo calls out names as examples and he mentioned Nicky, as well as others, and that’s why he’s saying “This is not ‘de la mata’, I’m the one who kills it” Hope that makes sense! the bar on the chorus saying "Esto no es de la mata, el que la mata soy yo" have a meaning behind. A few months ago, there was a controversy because an OG OG producer called "El chombo" said that the true reggaeton is dead because no one is making reggaeton "de la mata" (from the roots), so there is not real reggaetoneros. He said that every song on the latin urban industry is latin urban POP. Most of the OG artist took offence on it, so Nicky took a moment and made a reference to call that even making a pop song, he can kill it anyway. sorry if this doesn't make sense. There is a movie called Belle that came out in January of this year. I would love for you to react to the soundtrack. There’s a short medley that has a mashup of the most popular songs or you can do some songs individually. I recommend listening to them in English because the lyrics sound so good but it is originally in Japanese. However the English versions are also more popular. There’s was a controversy few days before this session came out one of the biggest producers of OG Reggaeton(El Chombo) claimed on one of his videos that no one was making “Reggaeton de la mata” anymore ( og reggaeton with the old sounds and structure) and also said that Reggaeton was dying cause all this Reggaetoneros are turning into pop artists. De la mata means from the root so when he says “ Esto no es de la mata el que la mata soy yo” he fires back at el chombo saying this is not from the roots cause I am the Root but also it has a double meaning saying I’m that one that’s killing it that punch line right there was insane
