I love when he said "remember when granny died, you looked at me and said baby dry your eyes, "depend on me" (The Pen On Me) as your relief, let your "Angle" be mine......" You're always writing at an angle. Hell of a dope flip. I missed it the first time. Others i picked up was the "Caught that body and wiggled through that sentence"..... basically his writing his disses to Drake,...the pen moves in a wiggle pattern when you're writing....lol "notebook, margins, flipping through pages".... he leaves so many easter eggs that get overlooked.

Gloria is derived from the Latin word Gloriae, which translates into “immortal glory.” It also has several other meanings, such as “renown,” “praise,” and “honor.” The English version of the name is Gloria. The name has several variations across cultures and languages, including Glória in Portugal and Spain.

This song makes me cry, it's so good. I think even if you're not a writer, everyone can relate to a certain craft or goal that they strive to master/achieve, and it can be really frustrating and even tragic how difficult that is throughout all the distractions. And it's easily comparable to being in love with someone and all the challenges that come with that. KL being able to capture all of that in this song is just like... very powerful. Not to mention it really gives power to this feud with Drake (and other posers) who don't write their own songs, who use AI, etc. People taking shortcuts to achieve glory has to be so frustrating when you put in the real work and have the real relationship. God bless Kendrick Lamar

"I gave you hustle" could also be about Nipsey Hussle if you interpret that moment as Kendrick speaking to GOD. I gave you life I bring the rainfall I gave you power I breathe the charisma and I bring the blessings (bestowing wisdom upon the people and allowing them to have deeper connection with GOD through religion) And if you want to reach even further, having SZA do that verse with the context of him talking to god means... In that moment, GOD is a woman and she gave him Gloria.

In 2014, Kendrick Lamar came to Africa (South Africa 🇿🇦 to be specific) and his visit inspired him to write To Pimp A Butterfly. He makes a lot of references to what he has learnt from us in terms of how we deal with things. Also noticed South African history that has so many similarities to America, with regards to gang violence, where two rival gangs that could be getting along are at loggerheads. He compares that to the historic tribal war between Zulus & Xhosas (South African tribes) who would go to war for territory over anything. And he brought Whitney with him when he came to South Africa in 2014 on his GoodKid Maad City tour. That trip also inspired him to write UNTITLED UNMASTERED, because he sends a shoutout to CAPETOWN (a lavish City in South Africa which has become a go to place for tourists and people who want to relocate) in one of the tracks. His visit to Ghana happened when Mr Morale & The Big Steppers was out. He held a listening session there together with Whitney. The last time he visited Africa, was when he came to South Africa 🇿🇦 for a concert he was a headliner of, where the crowd sang all of his songs loud, in unison and with so much passion. That event took place in December 2023, a month before LIKE THAT. Not to blow my own horn it's safe to say, we yet again ispired him to go to war with Drake & Cole. 🤣 I guess there's something about Africa/South Africa that makes American celebrities not to be keen to go back home, Busta Rhymes performed recently in South Africa & felt at home, Jill Scott & Jason Derulo as well, they all wanted to stay and relocate here forever, the way Anthony Anderson (Black-ish actor/Kangaroo Jack actor) has a house in Capetown, South Africa 🇿🇦

First of all, happy Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for you knox! As a generic, out-of-touch white guy, you brought me to appreciate songs like this. Second, I heard this song and literally could not wait for you to get to the end of this song. I'm so glad you went back to break it down after he delivered it.

I go between this and luther, but this song is just SO. GOOD. Imdontai’s reaction to this song is so funny. Before you get to the end, he’s sitting and listening like “yeah, this is so toxic.” 😂 He’s not wrong either 😂😂

Knox catching it right way shows me exactly why I watch this channel for breakdowns. The lyrics start calling out the theme early but the doubles are insane, but our guy Knox was on it!

Absolutely brilliant. Just amazed at Kendrick’s talent. We are so blessed to have access to information and communication on pieces of art. What the other artists don’t understand is that Kendrick’s already in history books from his talent and of course with his first Pulitzer Prize and this arc. He will be forever loved for his work and for his healing words. I’m just so happy that I can witness this. Thank you. New subscriber and binge watching reaction videos. This is fascinating and inspiring and I’m thankful. ❤
