I have a fondness for both Nigeria and Kenya, but it's evident that Nigeria's trains and services stand out for their elegance and advancement. The train journeys in Nigeria exude a sense of relaxation, offering comfort and enjoyment, particularly the Lagos Blue Line metro. The scenic view of Lagos from the blue line, coupled with the level of comfort, rivals world-class standards found in Europe, surpassing some European countries. While Kenya is making strides in its own right, I must admit that the Ugali didn't quite appeal to me visually, although it might taste better than it looks. Nonetheless, I hold deep affection for both Nigeria and Kenya, celebrating the unity of Africa.

However,what I really loved that Nigeria first class had individual seating chair arrangements which makes it really first class especially for those who travelling passengers who prefere privacy to seat alone and also I noticed the Nigerian first class has a beautiful kitchen which makes it really stand out hence I give overall win to Nigeria for this one just because of the first class arrangement and it's kitchen which to me matters alot when comparing the two.

Kenya population is about 1/5 or 1/6 of Nigeria. When you talk about cities, there are about 37 cities that easily compare to Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret and others. Going by your "resource" argument, Nigeria resources are more thinly spread across 37 cities and more than 700 towns, villages excluded. Kenya with a lesser population, far less cities to develop should be along the lines of Malaysia and Singapore. That being said, I love Kenya weather and prefer it to Nigeria's.
@JoinMutai7 ай бұрын
Natural resources like oil can be equated to manna from heaven. You do little to it yet the reward is huge. Arab countries who have used it "prudently" have managed to change their countries eg Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Saudi Arabia... Nigeria being among the top producers of oil should be ashamed of itself. With the dwindling returns of oil, courtesy of changing technology, Nigeria is likely to suffer economically...
@inyason26717 ай бұрын
@join... how many of those Arab countries have you visited and toured? UAE is not Dubai. Dubai is just a city in UAE. If you leave Dubai, you will see the other not very pleasant side of the UAE. What is the population of UAE and those other Arab countries? How many of them are in the list of developed countries? What are their socio-cultural and political dynamics? All those issues create complexities that undermine development and use of natural resources. How many of those Arab countries were colonised? If you know a bit about history, you would realise that natural resources attract attention... negative attention of powers that want to control... Your neigbour Congo is a good example of the power dynamics at play as a result of natural resources. Nigeria is a very complex nation of nations. You don't have up to 50 tribes in Kenya, but look back at the incidences of electoral violence relating to tribes. Nigeria has more than 300 tribes that fight and undermine each other. The complex sociology of Nigeria affects development. Compare that with Saudi Arabia that is ruled by a family. They decide what the country should do or not. Same with Qatar and the UAE. The stability brought about by the style of leadership in those Arab countries attracts investment/investors. Do you think all you see in Dubai was built by the UAE alone? There are a lot of investors that have put their money in the UAE because the style of goverment protects them. Qatar has a population of less than 3 million. Lagos state alone is almost 25 million. When you make comparisons, it is sensible to compare things of the same size and complexities.
@sunnyyande3787 ай бұрын
@@JoinMutai , when you talk about tourism, it is like milk and honey too. It employs more people than oil. Look at the tourism potentials Kenya have, and compare to what Thailand or Indonesia has, and you will see that these countries does not even have half of what Kenya have. Kenya has some of the best tourist destinations in the world. Can we also say it is shameful that Kenya is not as developed as Thailand and Indonesia? Talking about Abu Dhabi, Qata and Saudi Arabia, what is their population? What is their ethnic composition? I am not trying to say that Nigeria has done well. All I am saying here before you point one finger to another person, you should realize that you are pointing three to yourself.

I'm Kenyan but the Nigerian trains shown are way much better and offer a more pleasant experience to the passenger. The Lagos metro is many times better than the Nairobi one which passes through some very dodgy areas. The ordinary class intercity train for Kenya has terrible seating plan and was obviously a copy paste of Chinese provincial trains. It's very uncomfortable. The Kenya first class coach could have edged out Nigeria's based on world class amazing safari views but is again undone by the really luxurious seats and spacing available in the Nigeria ones. The Kenyan authorities need to fix the metro for Nairobi and Mombasa as well as construct a BRT. Nairobi is lagging behind in public transportation and has poor standards you'd expect in the Jubas and Ndjamenas of this world. Please do train station comparison as well.
