19:16 EXACTLY!! It's easy to try and pretend that Writing Mistakes didn't happen, but it's not always the best fix. It leaves holes in the story, and it alienates people who didn't see anything wrong. And that approach can pile up; pull blocks from the middle of a Jenga tower and it might hold, but now the structure's unsound-and it'll only get worse as you add more blocks to the top. Confession: I've kinda just... ignored Forces' lore presence for years now. There's so much in it that Doesn't Make Sense to me that it just doesn't connect with the rest of series' history in my head. It's been easier for me to pretend it didn't happen, and I was honestly ready for Sonic Team to do the same. That's what they do with mistakes, right? Ignore them. Refuse to improve or build upon them. But now I realize I was throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I didn't even notice the baby, but whoever wrote Chaos Island's arc did. They raised it and reconciled it with the rest of the series' multiple-game-spanning lore-character-arc Thing. They re-contextualized the Sonic-Help-Me thing in a way that made sense, and made it a learning opportunity in-universe. And now Tails-my favorite character and the one I relate to the most-is all the better for it. He isn't just more well-rounded now-he's grown a little. He's _happier._ Running from the past _is_ a losing game-it never brings you glory. A lot of Frontiers is just... Sonic Team choosing not to run. Not all of it, but enough to make a big difference.

agreed!! it would've been so easy for Flynn for going with that approach but Forces, whether we like or not, it's part of the continuation in the franchise, which means that trying to pretend that never happened would be hypocritical considering the whole idea this game is going with, Flynn managed to make Tails's arc in Forces actually meaningful to his character and give him a similar approach to his Independence's arc that the franchise gave it to him.

Damn, that talk about Knuckles being the only character able to have that specific dynamic with Sonic is just so good. You put into words what I couldn't explain if someone asked me why Knuckles still needs to be around when Shadow is basically Sonic's new rival. Knuckles has come much farther than just a rival. He's a character that's come from enemy to a found family with Sonic and Tails. There's a reason why the movies are depicting them to act like brothers. It's because Knuckles and Tails, they are like brothers in arms with Sonic.

I agree with your point in terms of Tails's situation on how his character was written in Forces, Flynn managed to make to flesh out a "controversial" scene as part of his biggest insecurities (as you described as a 'Impostor syndrome' approach) which really works well with Tails's well known arc of his independence, really great video man!!

The lyrics of the flashback song reflect the idea that even though she's not sure how he sees her, she wants to protect him and make him proud, and maybe, hopefully, they can form a loving relationship without blood.

The way I interpreted the whole thing with Sage was that she wasn't flashing back to any "good times" she had with Eggman, but wanted a relationship like sonic and tails have after seeing how they treat each other. And the flashbacks with Eggman show that she just.. doesn't get that from him. He doesn't reciprocate the care she shows for him, and Eggman is actively avoiding trying to get attatched. (And noticeably failing.) Although, I can see why it doesn't work for most people. Also, great video all around.

Mixing in classic ALtheBoi style of analyzing, editing, and discussion with your first playthrough is SO SUPERB. A style I truly haven't seen anywhere else. Much better than just rushing to get out first impressions while game hype is abuzz ike everyone else; especially since hindsight (like the budget speculation becoming a confirmed thing 😅😂) can also be worked in. This game's writing and character interactions really got me just as excited when I first played. On paper, it's just simple stuff, but for a game franchise as starving as Sonic, it was a 5-star meal 😙👌🏿 that was immensely needed. As someone who didn’t get all the egg memos in their first playthrough, I really didn’t understand Eggman and Sage’s attachment to one another and felt like it was a tad underdeveloped. I was surprised to find out that we can see how Eggman felt about Sage but we have to unlock all the egg memos to do so.

When I saw the Knigth of the Wind part, I literally SCREAMED. I was so hyped up the first time, taking it as a reference to those old flash games when sonic had this big ass sword, and since that seemed to be the most popular take I didn't really think much more about it! And it was so obvious too!! The editing made it even more epic, both there and all over the video really, I can't wait for the next part. Great work as always, looking forward to see part 3!!

So many laughs from the get-go; your presentation and edits to these videos are amazing! Referring to Knuckles as just... knuckle, sounds so very odd. 2:19 - Love the incorporation of platforming into these fights, what with this being a platformer and all. There is certainly a contrast between how the combat flows against standard enemies compared to the titans. 3:15 - For a second, I expected that beam to just pass straight through Knuckles and blast Sonic. Glad to know that even as a digital ghost, Knuckles is still ready for a fight. 7:16 - The Knuckles and Amy drawings here are adorable. To be fair to Knuckle's plan, it's not his fault that all the Mobians aside from the "Rookie" seem to be useless in Sonic Forces. 9:02 - Man, would suck if Knuckles goes off on his own for a bit and five seconds in the Master Emerald gets stolen or something. 11:03 - You could release these boss fights as GMVs of their own and it'd be cool enough but it's wonderful that we receive them as part of a humorous let's play and commentary on Sonic Frontiers. 14:31 - It's nice to get an explanation for why Eggman calls himself Eggman in the English Dub... I wonder what this audio log is like in the Japanese version. 17:40 - I like how enjoyed seeing this so much you just let it play out. It's references to galore but a good chunk of them are well thought out and fit in with what they are trying to say. I wonder if this game had any mention of either of Tails' solo adventures.
