Hey bro i know its a 2 year old vid but just for some info that 3 pin cap near the H-Bridge is only used when charging the batts not when the inverter is running it would just sit there. So if you wanted to put more batts or higher capacity batts then add another cap and some fets, Other then that keep it up.

Thanks for saving me $$$$$$$$$$. I was looking for a Pure Sine Wave inverter; but, I didn't connect the reality that these high end UPSs are Sine Wave inverters.

Love your vids. watched a ton of them. with all the inverters that you repair and or convert, do you resell them and if so where do i get access to the ones you sell.

I got a motomaster 1750 inverter. I liked your review of it but I'm having problems. It will power stereo, saws, chargers, but Florissant tube light with six bulbs will not start. CFL bulbs, it will start up two at a time but three or more it goes into fault mode and shuts down. I have a building that's only powered with solar. I currently have a 750w black and decker that will run all of the above, this one will not. A little more about the CFL's. I have a room with 6 bulbs on a switch. I can get all of the bulbs lit up if I turn in one at a time.

That's unfortunate. It sounds as if this inverter is not able to power the instantaneous surge of all of those fluorescent lights powering up at the same time. The power factor of that surge is very low and some inverters have trouble with it. You could try opening it up and adding additional high voltage capacitance, but otherwise you may need a different inverter unfortunately.

+knurlgnar24 Sorry for interjecting but I would like to help. I don't really know much about all the electrical dynamics involved here but the thought occurred to me the maybe a high voltage capacitor such as those used on 120V AC furnace motor could help to kick start the load of fluorescent ballasts. Let me know your thoughts on the subject or am completely out in left field.. I enjoyed this series of videos... Thanks.

Hi, I bought a couple of 12v to 240 volt inverters in a faulty state to repair.I have a brand new 12vdc battery and when I connected to inverters they display 17.5 volts on the unit’s screen. Is there a component I should look at? Appreciate your videos and help
@knurlgnar24 Жыл бұрын
I haven't run into that particular issue, but I suspect the display is simply reading the voltage incorrectly and is unrelated to the inverter root fault. I'd inspect it for obvious visual damage first, then ohm out the power FETs and diodes as a start.

I have a 48V unit similar to this. I saw how you tested the case ground + the fins to see if it was trying to charge the battery. On my 48V unit, there are two inner fins which show around 50V and the two outer fins show around 25. Is this normal or is my charging circuit bad?
@dashtesla64317 жыл бұрын
Check the voltage at the battery bank terminals, could be a bad connection, corrosion among many other things including a few that would be normal but doesn't make sense

Hello, thanks for these videos. Watched every single one. I am attempting a 3KVA APC UPS conversion to an inverter but ran into a particular problem. I believe your the guy with the knowledge that could help me. I have a 12v solar array charging a 12v battery bank. However., the battery pack for the UPS is 48v pack. I get huge sparks when I try to connect. Kindly help. Kenny
@Omegaman19693 жыл бұрын
You will need 4 x 12v batteries connected in series to make 48v. You can't connect 12v battery to a 48v battery as the higher voltage battery will try to bring the 12v one to 48v and likely explode.

My question here is was requesting ur help, before I feed this power to my Igbt invator, from AC the voltages in is 250ac, n then I convert it to dc 600 Vdc. I haven't feed scrab capacitors n sunt resistor, now will this 600dc burn my Igbts if that is I will not feed those items bro??

I am interested in using a UPS ( internal batteries removed) hooked up to my solar battery bank, batt voltages are the same. Do I really need to modify the internals to use it semi-continuously I am planning to buy a higher wattage unit than I need, to get over the continuous use issue.
@knurlgnar2410 жыл бұрын
You will need to benchmark your UPS unit to determine what is needed. They are usually only designed for short term use so most will require modifications, but some are also designed to allow add-on battery packs. Those may be OK without additional mods.

First you need a battery management system so that it stops charging when the batteries are full. Overcharging is really bad for lead acid cells. Secondly if you know anything about electronics, you can configure your array in a series parallel setup. So set 4 12v panels in series and connect that bank in parallel with another just like it. This gives you the volts and amps needed to run while charging. Upgrade to more banks of 4 for more running wattage. Send me a message for more info...

Why would they have linear regulation for charging the batteries, that seems wasteful and pointless...
