Man, Koala’s almost becoming a sort of workstation for digital audio!
@BIGUMAMI10 ай бұрын
it's getting there - but still retaining the workflow of something like an SP404 (but more intuitive lol) I actually wouldn't want it to become like a "proper" DAW. Koala works because it's unique. we already have plenty of DAWs!
@jimmythebold5897 ай бұрын
for ten bucks, who's complaining? then again, i'm someone who is very happy with his twelve dollar purchase of FL mobile studio, and i HATE the desktop app, lol! koala is the perfect combination of sophisticated and simple for a person like me, who suffers from a tendency towards sophistication, which, i asssure you, is not a virtue! @@BIGUMAMI
@jimmythebold5897 ай бұрын
cont'd. i'm just bugged i didn't spend that ten bucks for koala , earlier, as an android user. all the free samplers are the gross built in soundpack nonsense. ugh. and i use splice/loopcloud and so on, but i want to have command over what samples i use, not the crummy free ones with the free mixer apps! so, fl studio mobile (i am an ableton/reaper guy on desktop) and koala , ftw for android phone users...
@jimmythebold5897 ай бұрын
i like it because of that. i already have daws! this is like a real mpc, fun! i am 60 years old and grew up with analog and slightly digital gear before the personal computer revolution (althoug i built computer motherboards from scratch as a grade school kid in the 70s) . i love how simple and pared down koala is; that is one of its virtues. i often suffer possibility overload with kit like ableton and reaper, to be honest

I may be biased, but tune in a prepare to be surprised! We do all sorts of things with KS, from classic boombap, house and EDM to super experimental/weird shit (myself usually falling in the latter category)

It needs automation and arrangement. I read tweets of people using the new beta and they were saying it has FX Automation.

I'd like to weigh in as a musician who plays instruments and has jazz, classical and metal training. I love that people are empowered to explore their musical creative sensitivities with a product like Koala, musicians don't need to know music theory, rhythm theory, they just need to have their own aesthetic and a keen ear. I appreciate music software creation as ITS OWN UNIQUE INSTRUMENT, and it really is just as fun and rewarding, and,perhaps , evenmore fruitful than playing real world instruments (because the computer and sharingwith thew internet is baked in). pardon typos, tyiing hurts my hands

That was so nice to watch! The result is astounding! Thanks for the video that is beautifully edited by the way. And... Just in case you'd like to try, I also use Koala for live looping or creating synths :D It's a bottomless fun!

Hey hard worker, making content in a hotel room. Thanks for grinding for us! I myself prefer to go screenless rather than dawless. Or maybe an oldschool LCD screen.

I agree! and actually, I'd rather work on a laptop if I'm travelling... but Koala is so good and I use it on my phone all the time, it's just that the ipad has a large screen and I thought it'd be better for youtube!

17:00 okay, i appreciate all the knowledge you drop, but let's not forget the developer has stated that he wants your music to be created with 'less precious' liberties that lead you down, well, rabbit holes of EQing, mixing, swapping sounds, and so on. Koala has enough power and freedom, yet its limitations are what appeal to me, an Ableton user who is sometimes overwhelmed by that piece of kit's options. I also use Reaper, lol...
@BIGUMAMI7 ай бұрын
absolutely agree. at the end of the day, the most fun I've ever had is on a volca sample, which is as limited as it can be!!! but then again I think that marek has big plans for Koala... I agree that he wants it to be as intuitive as possible, but you can see from its growth that it's eveolving into more of a DAW each and every day imho!
@jimmythebold5897 ай бұрын
the main virtue of koala is its limitations, in spite of its power and ease of use.

samesies. i was wrong to hold out and look for free alternatives , as an android user. they don't exist. ten bucks. that's all. i'd also recommend FL mobile studio for 14 bucks. and i HATE the desktop version, i'm an abeleton user, but fl mobile studio is elegance defined, as is koala

Koala thrives for mixing when using AUM, where you can expand the outputs with Auv3 plugins.

so, let me understand: you want to sync Koala to your beatstep which controls your other hardware? you'll probably need an audio/MIDI interface! join my discord, we have a production help channel! discord.gg/rzmbV6q6

Yes i kan do it whit other midi controller. I used to have galaxy tablet pad and it was easy to use whit other gear but i didnt have those extra gear then. Good videos. Always learning more when whach your videos ✌️

You can use koala with external midi as well as sending clock out (PO Sync). It also has midi learn so you can assign buttons to parameters. I use koala on android phone and tablet with an akai MPD218 controller.
