I’ve heard you never want to use teflon tape on the fittings especially the high flow couplers because the tape can break off into the air hole. I am trying to get a real answer on this.

I’m sure that’s possible but if you tape properly, that’s not really suppose to happen in the first place. Also if it does happen, it wouldn’t matter for my applications so I personally am not worried about it.

Why not 3/8 over 1/4. 3/8 hose would be better, too. Dont you think?

Larger for everything is going to be better. But from my experience, it’s not going to be a perfect setup in general because if you use a wide variety of different tools, you’ll eventually run into something that you’ll have to re-convert back to the standard industrial size. I’m in that boat. I have a connection point that is only available in industrial size so I have to jump through hoops with a few different conversion connectors just to make things work.

How has this upgrade paid off? Notice any different?

For me, this is a future proof upgrade. I'm not using the compressor too much right now and not with air intensive tools so won't realistically see a difference. The increased air flow is logically there, but only noticeable under certain uses.
