The bar's original intention back in 1998 or whatever was probably for balance or getting on and off the pad only, sure. However, every song back the was 8 foot or less. Maybe that was its original design, but even Konami makes songs that seem to have the use of the bar in mind. It seems the only people who bash the bar are the people who can't beat level 10 or higher songs even with the aid of the bar.
@Corkscrewed18 жыл бұрын
That's almost impossible. The balance and control you need to get through that killer 8th note run near the end... geeez. I'm in awe.
@StrikerX3717 жыл бұрын
This is unbelievable... I've played DDR here and there, and the best i ever did was passing Dead End on heavy. Casual observers (the parents with strollers shaking their heads, lol) have no idea the level of eye-foot coordination, fast-twitch muscle response, and balance this takes. I often wonder what Konami thinks of the level of excellence that players have achieved. How far we've come from thinking PARANOiA was hard. Great job, Kobayan! I salute you!

@mudkipryuzaki15 жыл бұрын
Its is so refreshing to see someone who not only plays without holding the bar, but actually moves smoothly and light on his feet. Only negative thing I have to say is that reverse scroll is overrated. Yes its harder to read, big whoop. Learning to move like this guy is whats truly admirable.

i find that the bar is used to put less strain on your feet and put it on your arms. holding yourself up makes your feet lighter and faster. you lose stability however, in the fact that it becomes very difficult to cross over while using the bar.

This comment made me lol. I needed a good laugh, thanks. I guess my analogy was a little off though, DDR is just as much of a dancing simulation as Guitar Hero is a guitar playing simulation. We call DDR "Arrow smash" for a reason, and that's why the phrase "I can't dance without arrows" is so popular in the community.

@CycloMantis17 жыл бұрын
there are two reasons people use the bar. its either an issue of balance or an issue of physical ability or both. when you get on the bar it takes a significant amount of body weight off of your feet. so it takes more strength and stamina and balance to play no bar than it does playing with it. playing no bar just usually gets a nod of respect because of those reasons.

"He must have like, ballet/tap training because that is BAD ASS. " I've noticed that unlike some people he doesn't really flatfoot. Not saying it's a bad thing since everyone has different preferences, but generally players are encouraged to flatfoot to preserve their energy. If going on the balls of your feet helps more then flatfooting then go for it. ;)
@TuucciZ16 жыл бұрын
Actually, this is a "doubles" stepchart. In doubles mode, a single player plays on both the pads, and the arrows are put so it is possible. A corresponding Guitar Hero equilavent could be playing with ten of those colored buttons.

@AncientAura that's because he didn't get the arcade machine to do anything. this might look almost impossible but micheal jackson proved us wrong with his moonwalk. Even the people at the back are moving at normal pace and the girl that walked by didn't speed her way through. The music is also in sync with the steps and you can't hack an arcade machine at an arcade.
@lewis12814 жыл бұрын
