Kobe could use his pull up jumper from anywhere on the court without fear of having it blocked by any of the players guarding him. Kobe was shooting 3s before the Phoenix Suns went crazy with 3s. When Melo came in the league, he was also shooting them. You are correct in the mid-range game.

Revisiting Kobe's shooting form and release. Even if he's wide open, he releases the ball mid-air, not upon jumping. I tried copying that and realized you must have strong triceps to do so. it's not the most efficient style but sure does look good
