I love all of your work capturing steam locomotives around the world. You have certainly captured the true essence of steam in so many places for posterity. It is an absolute pleasure to watch them all on my big 75"TV with the sound turned up. Thank you for your excellent work.

An interesting point: despite their beaten-down appearance, these locomotives are NOT leaking, and those driving them are NOT causing their wheels to spin, among other things. This is because they're true workhorses that are still relied upon to work well, and the people that maintain them are true masters.

yeah they seem to know how to keep those guys in great shape!

I don't care of people said how awful those Chinese locos looks, or their whistle and air horn sounds, I love them and they are my favorites!!!
@eriknewland36864 жыл бұрын
Aesthetically and mechanically they're an interesting mish-mash of the Soviet locomotives they're based on along with a lot of American influences (bigger cylinders and boilers, etc.)

They look a lot like American steam engines of the era that were workhorses and looked like they were rode hard and put up wet and were often not cleaned up like the restored steam engines of today!

Thanks. Great videos. Old trains and their loads Fascinate us. But not the modern trains in our cities.

Pardon my ignorance but why the air horns in lieu of their whistles? Is it a safety thing?

I'm guessing China has modernized their factories much more since this right? 10 years ago
@KochersbergTV2 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed. They closed these factories a few months after I was there. Which is probably the reason why we were authorised on the premises.

Is it existing still in China ? I am from Hyderabad India
@KochersbergTV2 жыл бұрын
This is history, I am afraid. The only surviving steam locomotives in China are in Sandaoling for which I have also published a video on KZbin.

Interesting how I see so many concrete sleepers there and the USA is still using wooden sleepers.
@KochersbergTV4 жыл бұрын
In China, I even saw sandstone sleepers. Own narrow gauge admittedly.
