Great impression of this narrow gauge line. Many thanks!

What terrible looking locos with tiny wheels. I think I'm correct in saying this has now all been cut up for scrap and recycled.
@_dampfwolke3 жыл бұрын
@@PreservationEnthusiast this is only your opinion.

@@_dampfwolke True, but I think many would agree with me that aesthetics of this loco are terrible.

Not an easy answer, but in my opinion it is still worth going to places like Sandaoling or Fuxin. For narrow gauge, consider Rongshan, but this is not necessarily an easy place to go.

Yeah, last I heard there were still 1,000 steam locos at work in China, but I don't know what year that was, it might not be accurate

Fun facts:The official name of the Shibanxi Railway is ‘Jiayang Coal Railway’.
@KochersbergTV5 жыл бұрын
Indeed. It has been a while since they have not carried any coal, at least on the upper part of the line. Actually this video is one of the last opportunities to see the regular transportation of coal on the line.

Quite far from the Myanmar border actually. The climate is more or less similar to the one in the mediterranean area. They grow tangerines, oranges and tea. When I was there, rapeseed was blooming.

These are spectacular videos! How much mainline steam exists in total? Still worth it to go to China to see steam?

@1:25 - not a good time or place to have the washing out! @7:00 - such tiny driving wheels, was there a specific reason for that?
@farmerphil8 жыл бұрын
+hughvane The smaller the drivers the more power and torque, you sacrifice speed but in this case tonnage hauled is the goal. The same as low gear in a manual trans or look at most farm tractors and there gearing.

It is like time-travel into 20th century. But there are no semafore signals.
@KochersbergTV4 жыл бұрын
Signaling is very rudimentary and using "road" red and green signals in the only station where train crossing is possible.

Yes, but no longer for coal trains. A few very uncomfortable trains for local passengers and a few more comfortable trains for tourists every day.

Yes, the new name of this railway is Jiayang Little Train, near Le Shan city in Sichuan province (PRC). My video is about this railway, when it was still carrying the local people and coal, not just tourists. Thank you for updating me about this interesting railway.
