Kocur played for the Blades in Saskatoon, and he was around Saskatoon in the summers after he turned pro, so we'd see him around town, have a drink with him occasionally too. He is and was a great guy, respectful and a decent fellow, above all. He knew his place in the NHL and was a pretty skilled player as well. Lot of respect for him.

characters like that used to rule the league. thanks to Bettman, they (along with hard hitting & fighting) have been pretty much eliminated from NHL. replaced by 2-way players who score perhaps 5 goals per year & perhaps fight once every two years. thx bettman

@@vikingkrigare5329 Everyone has their spills bro. Feels kind of classless to mention these types of fights. When the dog has had his day (and he knows it) but gives a guy a chance at a come up - its respectable, not a knock against their record. Domi, Probert, Grimson, Ray, among many others got worked by up and comers in the ladder periods of their careers (usually they expected it too). But they only got their shot because the big dogs of previous years gave them a chance because its a show of sportsmanship. Matt Johnson and Todd Fedoruk made mincemeat of many legends during their debut bouts. Laraque (especially) battered even more during his Edmonton days (to this day, a lot of guys in the 80s-early 90s circuit have said he had the strongest punch they've ever received). Without context though, you could reduce all 3 of these previously mentioned guys to a few fights where they got fed (Johnson's first fight against Andrew Peters before the comeback knockout, Todd Fedoruk's career ending injury against Boogard/concussion against Orr, or Laraque vs Blouin or Brashear). A better evaluation of fighters should bring up the legacy and their worst/best decisions as enforcers, not just the losses - because Simon caught *hard* losses from fighters that Domi was actively flatlining. To clarify. I don't like Domi. He suckered Niedermeyer and intentionally dropped Cam Russel's head into the ice after a knockout (causing permanent injury, then followed it up by bouncing and punching his unconscious head against the ice). But Simon is a dirty b*st*rd too, and did the same stuff frequently. Both were beasts and at times, completely untouchable. But there's a reason they are acclaimed as top of the line enforcers, but often disliked by many fans (and its not their spattering of losses - its their conduct).

I'm always curious about a bunch of different things, you know when probert got caught smuggling cocaine over the border, don't you lose your green card, isn't it hard to get it back, how in the heck could he continue to play hockey for the wings, or did the wings pay for him to get it back?

Brian Sutter sucks!! He wasn't a fan of Probert. Sutter big on charter guys, push Probie right out the door. Then the next year hawks sign Theo Fleury
