Ik ken hem nog. NZ-37-JN toch? Omgekomen bij de brand? Idd behoorlijke zweem groen erin. Ik werkte die van mijn ouders altijd bij met appelbloesem wit van Histor 😉 Mooie kleur dat 1001 van Škoda.

@@MrSkoda105s Apple White zei de kleurkaart. Hele mooie kleur, net zo apart als Sand Beige bij de eerste Favo's. Ja, helemaal correct. Van een hoofdboekhouder van de Shell, die vlakbij hier in Heiloo woonde, geweest. Ja, klopt, ik heb hem toen aan Erik verkocht, want die kon tuuwk wel zestien jaar achterstallig onderhoud wegtoveren.(Alle bonnen waren erbij, was alleen duidelijk nooit iets uitgevoerd...). Wat een mooie originele auto was dat. Helaas...

@@henkbraaksma9775 Dan had ik echt een goede match met de Histor verf 😉 ja prachtige coupe. Heb hem in Alkmaar op een clubdag gezien en later heel wat keren zien staan in de loods bij Erik. Eeuwig zonde zo’n origine mooie auto... De velgen leven nog voort op mijn 120 LS.

This grille was only until 84. After that they got a facelift. Black was a very rare color for the coupe. Really special! I like this car a lot. It’s almost ready for MOT 😃

just put 4.5 litres of antifreeze in it and make sure cooling fan works and this will stay a good car

Cooling fan works. Starts cooling at 85 degrees 👌🏻

@@MrSkoda105s it was one of the things that killed many of the engines in uk cars the fan switch fails car over heats.... the owner fails to put enough antifreeze in...coolant froze splitting metal pipes underneath loss of coolant over heat....i loved my estelles, made sure it never happened to mine, wish i had one now as a weekend classic.

@@eggy1962 true! Original switch stops working. Wasn’t the best quality. Aftermarket switches are better and reliable. I choose an early one. Better safe then sorry. In my LS I even build a switch on the dashboard to turn it on manually. Don’t want my skoda’s to overheat. At the moment I’m restoring a Rapid 1984 (120 G) and the first thing I did was replace all the water hoses. Also the 2 underneath the car. Flushed the system and put and early switch in the radiator. The car still had all the original green hoses and clamps from the factory. 😅 now it’s safe to use again. Hope you’ll find one as a weekend classic. @@MrSkoda105s ha ha i did exactly the same wiring in a switch bypass to the dash, never gave them chance to overheat, i am on a bit of a memory trip at the moment been watching a few you tube videos on estelles

Eerst met de hand benzine doorpompen, start ie meteen! Deed ik altijd na een week stilstaan... Had ooit een 120L en een 130 L... Lekkere stoelen, en je kon er ook goed in slapen.... Maar dat was allemaal 30 jaar geleden ongeveer..

Helemaal gelijk. De man die hem hier start verkocht hem en had dat duidelijk niet gedaan. Oppompen en hij loopt direct inderdaad. Stoelen zeker fijn. In de folder een 2 persoons bed. Leuk dat je een 120l en een 130l hebt gehad! Fijne auto’s.

Hello to the UK! Would be great to bring your Rapid back on the road! Actually this Rapid belongs to a friend. I have one too, but the older model, called Garde in Czechoslovakia. It’s been sitting since 2005. Planning on bringing it back on the road this summer.

@@MrSkoda105s So you have one of the first (I am jealous!) and I have one of the last 136 models. Funnily enough my Rapid has been off the road since 2005 too, due to an accident. Fiat Seicento was crashing and unfortunately used my Skoda to bounce off! I've collected a few parts including a new door, rear wing and inner wheel arch, I've just been lacking time! Best of luck with your Garde. :-)

@@gord307 Yes first type! really happy with that. But last model 136 is also rare and very nice! Mine is just sitting. Low milage only 26.000 KM. All still is factory new. Hope you'll be able to get it back on the road any time soon. Good to hear you've already collected spare parts! I'll make a video when I start the Garde project!

@@gord307 amazing so many miles! My green 105 s has done over 300.000 KM. If correctly and in time maintained they can achieve high milage. Most Škoda’s didn’t get over 100 K in their life. Good luck with yours too. I’m starting in 2 weeks with the Garde!

Thank you. It isn’t polished yet in this video. But normally Autoglym super resin polish. Will give a very shiny result 👌🏻

Has the Rapid been rustproofed underneath and inside cavities? I use Waxoyl on my Skoda's, but Dinitrol is also excellent

@@julianroberts5407 Yes it has rust prevention underneath. In Holland it was a very common thing to do back in the days. Dinitrol is good, think Tectyl was used on this Rapid.

@@MrSkoda105s I bought it from bringatrailer, and imported it to Canada. I get so much attention when I drive it, it’s a blast! I find over the years it’s gone from a ‘time capsule’ to a car I enjoy driving

Skodalicious We get those reactions too over here. But in Holland people remember them being on the road back in the days. Where you live most people never saw one in real! So it’s even more special I think. Was it already in the States when you bought it at the auction? I’ve seen Škoda’s in Canada. They did some modifications to make them road legal.

Absolutely fantastic.👌🏻 It’s so quiet compared to my 105 and 120. It’s even pretty fast with the 130 engine. Seats are really comfortable. But hey; I’m a Škoda fan. There isn’t much I don’t like about rear engined Škoda’s. 😉

That´s a really nice Rapid! But I have a question regarding to equipment. Were these Apollo wheels, the front grille and the stripe with "Coupe" marking standard equipment in Holland?

Hi Thomás! Nice to hear from you again! The Apollo wheels were standard on a Rapid in Holland. On the first Garde’s they fitted Jupiter alloy wheels, last Garde had already Apollo alloys. They came in combination with Goodyear tires. The front grill was an option form the Dutch Škoda accessory shop. The side stripe, and on the bonnet with coupe (I really like that striping) was always on Dutch Rapids. If you see this in another country big chance it was a Dutch Škoda and went back to the Czech Republic. The Rapid was called Rapid coupé. (Garde was also called Rapid coupé in Holland) the Garde had a sticker on the rear window saying: Škoda, merk toch hoe sterk (Škoda, notice how strong) and later Rapids had a sticker saying: Wie slim is rijdt, Škoda (Whoever is smart, drives Škoda.) Škoda 105-120-130 often had a super plus package which involves: RVS wheel rims, aluminum name strips with Škoda on the side vents, matt black roof trim and rubber protection bumper strips on the side. If you wanted more you could order a side striping (different than Rapid) and last but not least they fitted different mirrors in Holland. (Monitor) Do you like the striping?

It is really cool! Especially the wheels which were available around the world.
