Portra 400 is my long time favorite color negative with TRI-X 400 being my favorite B&W film. Usually I rate my Portra 400 at 200 iso and develop it normally. Now looking at your amazing shots I wonder what pushing it to 800 will do.

I just picked up some rolls of portra 800 for a great deal and was looking for some good examples of what I can shoot. This was a fantastic video and the editing and photos were on point! i shoot cinestill 800 as well as portra 800 on a nikon F3 at it's max shutter speed of 1/2000th without any overexposure issues so far

Portra 800 isn’t great for long exposures, it’s made for shooting handheld and relaying on its underexposure latitude. Slower films are generally better for long exposures.

Very cool to know! I bet because of that, you could get some really unique long exposures! Maybe I’ll have to try that one day! I’ve only used it for handheld so-far, so I agree - definitely good for on the run shots.

@@AesonRose I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s just good to keep them short. Like under 20 secs or you might get funky stuff. That is partially because the film is so sensitive that it’ll just mop up stuff you might also don’t want in there. Because exposure is not added evenly.

Depends on scenario, but I shoot at box iso and compensate with shutter and aperture

Hey man the Candid photo of the two men at the liquor store. Are you sure that was portra 800 it is has red halation that occurs in cinestill 800t as result of removing the rem jet Layer.

This might be a basic question and I’m sorry for it. If it’s 800 do you leave the settings in the camera to 800 iso the entire time you shoot or do you change the setting on the camera according to what you are shooting?

Great question! I would set the iso speed the same the entire time of the shoot. Now, I could also be totally wrong, but I've always had good results. It also helps to have a camera with a fast shutter speed.

For the day time photos , did you shoot in manual or automatic setting ? If so for manual what settings did you have it ?

With the EOS 1N usually I'm in aperture priority. But the settings are approximately f1.8-f2.8 and shutter 2000-8000
