A lot of people interpret this song as being about a relationship. But to me, it's about being alone and watching as everything happens around you. I feel like the song is telling us to get ourselves out there, and enjoy it because we will grow old, and one day we'll regret all the things we haven't done because of our insecurity.

To me, this song is about the ever growing depression and the periods of anxiety we're challenged with in our day-to-day lives. And about how, falling prey to their unyielding hands, we fail to live our lives to the fullest. It's also about our inherent tendency to keep to ourselves and not reach out for help in spite of all the pains and sufferings. We worry as to what the others might think of the situation if we admit to them our innermost troubling thoughts and sufferings. But the truth is we all suffer and most of the times, all we need is some helping hands. As we grow old and look back on our lives, we realize that we've taken our miseries for granted and regret that it didn't have to be that way. Because we can always help by being just a bit kinder and gentler to one another. Take love, Kodaline! ❤

"Too shy to say that you need help".. how true are those lines and how proud certain times you can be at trying to show everybody you're always right and strong, that you never need a hand and you can do it on your own, when the reality is that "you and everybody else" tend to need help most of the times.. and that's the kind of attitude that might not allow you to move on, making your live "passes you by"... This is for sure one of my favs songs simply for telling that true...

This song is so amazing. It helps me so much on those days when you just feel like nothing is going right, those days where all you want to do is cry. This song is always there for me. It's so uplifting. Music has helped me so much these last couple months, I've been feeling alone, like no one understands me, but then, I've found all these songs, they describe me, they describe what I'm feeling, as if telling me "Your not alone, keep going." It has been so helpful. Thank you

What I got out of this video and song is that we are all children inside, and the world will give us trials and it will punch us in the gut, and it is cruel. It is a shame we can't be each other's comforters in this place, instead of being against each other. Treat everyone with the kindness you'd treat a child with.

Every line of this song is so true, and even though a lot of people think he's singing about a relationship, I think this song is just about life itself, how people don't take the chances they're given, how we care so much about other people's opinions that we don't see that we're focusing on the wrong things, and we only notice all of the things passing through our fingers when it's nearly too late. In the end, we've passed up every chance because of our insecurities, and only then realize that all of these things we've been holding onto aren't substantial, and they crumble and we've got nothing left, and everyone else is grasping for a hold, too. And still, you're being ridiculed, not good enough, and even though you learn to deal with it all, you still feel it. And even at the end, you still don't know what it's about, because you never tried to figure it out, never took a chance, and your life just passed you by, and you can't fix it, because it's gone. Sorry for all of that, but I'm getting to the point here. Do yourself a favor, take every chance presented to you. Don't let your insecurities get the better of you, stop trying to see yourself through anybody elses eyes. Figure out what life is about, to you. Don't hold on to these things that don't matter, because they'll be gone tommorrow. Don't let life pass you by, because you won't get any of it back. Once it's gone, it's gone. Poof, bye-bye, and you've got nothing. Don't let it happen, please, for your sake.

I just discovered this song. After knowing „All I Want“ for a few years now today was the day that I decided to look them up again and listen to more of their songs. This was the song that I chose. It’s destiny for sure. I’m depressed, anxious and insecure and I have to make decisions regarding my future. I want to feel better and I always think about that some day it’s all going to be good. Still I’m to afraid to get up and live my life. I don’t even know where to start. But little wonders like this song give me hope. One day I’ll be fine.

To me this is not love song, it's about how life passes you by while you are on your own trying to solve everything by yourself, forgetting that there are people around you who can help you carry on in this life, that's why he says "too shy to say that you need help, you and everybody else...", and then he asks "how are you still holding on?". Listen and understand little ones. This 66 year old has been around two times over and a lot I would change if I knew then what I know now. Now I'm oobeise, poor and bedridden, have suffered many illnesses and infections, heartache, insults, when you can't get up and do something about your perdicament, you think life has passed you by. It hurts to be right so kids don't waste your lives. We aren't promised tomorrow. Live for today and don't burn any Bridges behind you. Best wishes. Oh, and this is a great group and excellent tune.

I interpret this song about a girl who is trying to be like everyone else and she is becoming sad/depressed by her obsession with being "normal". Life is just passing her by as she focuses on the trivial things in life and she's barely holding on to her emotions. Maybe I'm looking a little too deep into it, but this song just makes me really emotional..

can't believe this is 6 years old. i feel like kodaline's always been a part of me, i can't even remember how old i was when i heard 'all i want' and 'talk' for the first time. all i know is that these songs made me _feel_ something. they made me feel like i could fly. last year i was emotionally exhausted to the point where i didn't want to wake up, i couldn't feel anything at all. i listened to this, 'one day', 'better' and 'moving on' one morning in my room and i just cried and cried. it was so much better than feeling nothing. thank you kodaline.

The album version didn't have the "woooooo-oh", but they added it to this version, and it became a Top 20 hit in Ireland -- so the formula works!

I interpret this song as : sometimes we get so caught up in a memory or in a comfort zone that's long gone and changed ever since and that is now just toxic for us. Instead of staying hung up on it we should just let it go and make new memories and find new comfort zones because life just passes by our eyes and we are losing ourselves while we should be out there discovering and living new things :) I know my biggest problem and fear is to let go of comforting memories. I'm so scared of what is coming next and of losing myself that I just yield to all the good times I had.
