Thanks very much for posting this. Noticed a very young Wally Jay (of Small Circle JiuJitsu fame) right at the end of Part 1, and for about 5 minutes at the beginning of Part 2.

the technique at 3:15 reminds me of a medieval technique, same lock and same takedown. the only difference is in this it is a defense against a punch and in the medieval codices it is a defense against a jacket grab

Judo is the product of Kano Jigoro "sysetmatizing" the fighting system of the samurai. WHich was called jujutsu. Prof. Kano introduced the gi and the belt system.other martial arts followed. The principles of leverage and technique was long ago emphasized in judo.

"ju jutsu" was not a single art, there were many Ryu teaching different techniques. Kano combined techniques from different Ju Jutsu schools (and from wrestling - Kata Guruma) to form Judo and spread a knowledge that was kept secret, sending ambassadors around the world. From there, many other arts derived (Sambo, BJJ, Bartitsu, etc.) w/o a direct connection to jujutsu. They evolved from Judo which is why they should acknowledge Judo specifically as part of their heritage.

All the so called jujutsu/jiu jitsu "fathers" and "founders" need to give Prof. Jigaro Kano and his art of JUDO the acknowledgement that it deserves. All of the BJJ, Small circle JJ, Kodenkan JJ (the list goes on) is from the teachings of Kano Jigoro. Ancient judo!

Your point is?. I'm not saying Jigaro Kano made up EVERYTIHING in judo/jujutsu. The martial arts are evolving/improving. But Kano Jigaro made JJ more sytematic he introduced more "small guy" technique and introduced the gi and belt system. Others then took that and started calling it BJJ or Hawaiian jiu jitsu orwhatever. Which is just ancient judo repackaged.
