I agree so much with what Janet said about Christine not talking to Kody. My ex (who wasn’t near as abusive as Kody) said I knew you couldn’t stay away from me, after I said hi at our son’s wedding. I t was years later when he kind of apologized. He said I know I don’t have any reason to ask, but would you pin this boutonniere on me, no one else will help me. Now whenever we see each other at the grandkids events, we can be civil.

When Kody talks about how Mary wasn’t kind or interesting etc. If you still listen to it, he is still only seeing her in the context of what she can do for him. He has no other frame of reference with anyone else. Everything is how it revolves around him. I agree that Meri appears to have some rough personality traits. But, he is still of the mindset when thinking about her of what can she do for him. Never, The other way around.

I know this is going to sound crazy to anyone who hasn’t lived through narcissistic abuse, but someone like Kody will constantly, deliberately offer things to Meri that he knows she doesn’t like with the intention of triggering her. This was not a one time thing. This was years of him using this technique to trigger her. Her reaction was exasperation, not being mean. I now have more sympathy for Meri.

I think Meri was 19. Kody was her first love, first kiss, first everything, and she didn't know how to share him. Add her fertility issues to that, and I understand why she was angry. Anger was how she expressed her sadness.

Reflecting on Janet’s comments about Christine not saying “Hi” to her abusers. My abuser was my BIL. My niece, my sister’s and BIL’s daughter, was 3 when they divorced. So at all her birthday parties, basketball games, etc. I had to see him. I couldn’t tell my niece anything about his disgusting behavior. That would only hurt her. But I could never speak to him, look him in his eye, I never wanted to have anything to do with him. Sometimes you don’t want to acknowledge your abuser. Sometimes you just can’t. Kody destroyed Christine. He deserves nothing. Including being allowed to be near and further abuse his victims.

I think Meri is the family scapegoat. She seems to be the only wife that isn’t allowed to have a bad day, standards or opinion. We hear how horrible she was yet her and Christine were bffs at one point because they were both so fun loving. I think Kody was able to manipulate the entire family to gang up on one person when he was on the outs with them.

My sister (6 yrs older than me) told me I was adopted, they found me, ruined Santa (iykyk), used to pin me down, bust me up, hide my stuff plus MANY, MANY other things. I used to do ALL KINDS of stuff to her also (shout out to the babies of the house) when we were kids. Then once she left home, we were and still are super tight. Ish happens when you're a kid. I have speculated that Robyn is threating divorce and he pushed the ladys out so Robyn did not take what was theirs. She has manipulated him into believing his children and wives are the enemy. So every other one had to get an extra job and pay for their own mortgage, utilities, food and whatnot not from the family fund but Robin got to use the family fund to pay her mortgage and all that cause you know neither 1 of them have outside jobs. And his gun business probably isn't doing all that while we know Cody puts no effort into anything he does except for wearing his gloves and acting like he's cutting down trees.
