Kody IS the GOSSIP of his family. He went from wife to wife to gossip about OG3 and not about his Angel Robyn. He likes to stir up the pot. So sad what he did to that family. Narcissistic people destroy not build.

Oldest 8 in order: Logan, Aspyn, Leon, Madison, Mykelti, Hunter, Paedon, Garrison, all were born between 1994-1998. I'm a psych major, about to be in my senior year, narcissism isn't caused by untreated ADHD. The cause of narcissism isn't completely known but it's thought to either be from early childhood trauma (before age 5) or from parental coddling that creates personality flaws that develop into a disorder. The thought behind the trauma cause is that the person uses their narcissism almost like an armor of protection, they keep themselves above everyone else because they never want to feel low again like they did when they suffered the trauma. The thought behind parental coddling is the caregivers overly praise, don't teach accountability, don't teach good coping skills, and spoil a child, making the child feel that they are superior to others, and everything is always someone else's fault, so the child develops these features as part of their personality, they believe themselves to be as special as their caregivers thought they were.
@vanessaTheGrittyArtistАй бұрын
Oh man, this makes me think of Jeff Winger from Community. There's a whole episode where their explore an aspect of himself that traces back to his trauma of his father abandoning him at a very young age and his mom doing all the things you listed. I need to watch that show again. It's so good.

I have a question for this being so- what if the child in question has a severe health condition that makes them feel flawed and not superior but underneath everyone? Can they be narcissistic? Could that make them feel like a waste of time?

Maddie did the interview because Kody spoke on the mormon podcast about her. She did it in reaction to her dad speaking about her on a public podcast. Kody says Maddie ghosted him, then in the same breath says he stopped talking to her because she only called Kody to fish for info to gossip about. So which is it, did Maddie ghost Kody or was she constantly calling to grill Kody about stuff to gossip about.
@followthewhiterabbit9490Ай бұрын
Agreed. I also wonder if he was the one only calling Madison to get intel on the rest of the family. Because we know kody will blame everyone else for doing something but there is video evidence that it is him doing the thing. He likes to switch the blame.

I totally agree with Lauren on Kody having ADHD, I've wondered that for a while. I think that he has a cluster of things, and ADHD is likely one of them. I want to emphasize, though, that having ADHD is not an excuse for these behaviours he exhibits. When I was recently diagnosed, I finally understood WHY I would let friendships die on the vine, for example. It doesn't mean I'm not accountable for those things. People with ADHD struggle with focus (not just with tasks, but relationships). We also struggle with productivity, despite feeling busy and overwhelmed all the time. We struggle a TON with managing money (You got it? Spend It.) Many also struggle with temper control and anger, particularly if they feel overwhelmed or emotionally dysregulated. I can't imagine how destructive ADHD can be if combined with a personality disorder, like NPD, or the influences of fundamental Mormonism. ADHD is a blessing and a curse, and I bet in the beginning it was very helpful in managing a polygamist family. It might even explain why he was drawn to it, in part. I maintain he has more than just ADHD, though. He needs intensive therapy and psychiatric evaluation.

I believe Maddie put out her opinion to her dad about him being totally wrong about not going to Ysabel’s surgery. And then if he didn’t show up for Evie’s surgery also. Add all that to Kody’s treatment of the whole family during Covid. If I were Maddie, I would have cut him off too! She and Caleb went from being so close to her Dad, to him never calling or reaching out to them at all. Never coming to visit either. He is way too focused on Robyn’s previous kids to maintain his adult friendships with his kids, and it is so wrong!

IQ i think it would be interesting to have a show about Christine and Jenelles friendship. I think that relationship is a little off. Jenelle doesn't seem to want to talk about stuff with Christine and feels Christine is too pushy. I know they were both married to the same man but friends should feel safe talking about things and Jenelle is very guarded.
@getmotivated1707Ай бұрын
I get what you mean, but I don't think it's weird, just unusual for two such different personality types to be friends. Janelle is seriously independent, pretty stoic and doesn't need closeness with others that much, while Christine is pure nurture, social and needs deep connection to others. Robin has said a few times about "wives not liking that" while talking about intimacy, and I think she meant Janelle. She always portrays her relationship with kody as a friendship foremost, and I kinda get how that can be. I'm a pretty solitary person and find janelle really relatable. People like Christine, while lovely, can grind my gears easily with their touchy feels worldview lol, so their friendship is unusual but real imo.

I agree that I've assumed that Kody might have undiagnosed ADHD (but we obviously cannot diagnose him). We know at least one of Kody's biological children is diagnosed on the ASD spectrum (Gwen) and one of Robyn's (Dayton), and I've wondered if Robyn might also be neurodivergent or primarily inattentive type ADHD (this could even explain hoarding tendencies and shopping addiction in Robyn's case, because people who fit in the OCD/ADHD/ASD triad are at higher risk of developing hoarding disorder, and shopping addiction and poor finances can be a result of poor impulse control like in ADHD). If one person is diagnosed with ADHD and/or ASD in the family, chances are high that they're not the only one because they appear to be hereditary. If Robyn and Kody are both neurodivergent, it's possible that this played a role in them bonding closer if they could relate better.

We were not plig but all my neighbors were my teachers at school and church. Most weekends I woke up at my principal and my fifth grade teachers house. They were married. There were always kids everywhere so it wouldn’t have even been a question! *The most important thing Maddie and Caleb can do as parents is to lead their children to know Jesus! Teach their children to be good people and Caleb is the greatest example of that! I’m so impressed with what Caleb did for his sister.

Maddie spoke on her relationship with her Dad on Instagram. Why she doesn’t have him around her kids. She said he suffering from a mental illness. Once Kody obtains treatment that might change. My Mom was married 3 times her 2nd Husband who was not my Dad was Bipolar & psychotic! I went to live with my Dad because of the abuse. He was dangerous because he didn’t take his medication. In fact he shot a gun off in a locker room where he was coaching!! The kids did win the game! The shot was fired before the game! He still had his Teacher degree, plus didn’t go to jail! It was the last game of the season. Later on as a teenager I party in that town & people were scared of me because of him. Till I told them he was not my Dad & I moved out. Some boys were scared to Date me at the time. They were scared that they would get shot!! Couldn’t blame them but that changed it is a good little town. The first amendment protects our right to criticize religion as much as it it protects those who practice it. Not a criticism, I largely agree but would just add the caveat that considering it too personal or sacred for us to even discuss can be equally problematic. Free speech cuts both ways, but those practicing religion are often given more grace to say whatever they want, and neither extreme is productive.
@HereForTheComments990Ай бұрын
The biggest issue is the power granted to religions in government to influence policy. People have been steadily leaving religion in the U.S. for decades. Fewer people are religious now than ever before, yet religions have more power in government than ever before. It’s wrong and really destructive.

Nope, that is wrong. Logan Aspyn Leon Madison Mykelti Hunter Garrison Gabe and Gwen were the twins, because they were born in the same month. Then can Ysabel and Savannah Before Robyn’s kids came in.
