We met up with Kody Lamb outside Red Lodge Montana. Just a few short hours later Kody was riding a bucking horse to the tune of 85 points and collecting a check before he headed to the next rodeo. Keep an eye out for this song on Kody's new record, a release date hasn't been announced.
Kody had this to say:
"I grew up outside of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, and my love of music and my love of rodeo really go hand-in-hand with each other. I started learning to play the guitar when I was around 9 years old, which coincidentally was about the same time I started going to junior rodeos, riding steers, and becoming obsessed with life as a rodeo cowboy. Rodeo music has always held a very special place in my heart, and that remains true to this day. I started riding bareback horses when I was 15 and was introduced to Chris LeDoux’s biography “Gold Buckle Dreams” a short time later. From that point forward, I knew I wanted to be like Chris, riding bareback horses and making music simultaneously.
I have always been obsessed with great storytelling, and I think the ability to tell a story is one of the most important tools we have as human beings. Music is one of the most powerful storytelling mediums, and I always try to tell a great story in every song that I write. I began writing songs shortly after I began playing the guitar, and my love of writing has really blossomed as I’ve grown older. I kept writing songs throughout high school and college and have enjoyed getting to tell stories of the highs and lows of rodeo and the experiences I have had in 15 years of riding bucking horses."
