It was such a bafflingly stupid move. They DESIGNED their dream homes, were all close together like Kody supposedly desperately wanted, had no homes built on this raw land in AZ, had to rent (and buy) homes across a 20 mile radius, had adult children that had chosen to stay near them in Vegas, had their first grandchild there, etc. And suddenly they're all concerned about a downtown mass shooting when Kody has always shilled automatic weapons? Mykelti and Tony claimed that Dayton applied after the choice was made to move to flagstaff. But I’m suspicious because he probably would’ve had to apply at least 6 months before the school year began (if universities there are the same as here in Canada) so that would be January or February of 2018.

Hmm. I'm suspect too. Enrollment opens in Sept/Oct for the following year. The cut off for early enrollment is Dec/Jan. Financial aid is disseminated in Jan/Feb. IF spots remain because it's not as competitive of a school, you can apply later. But you're a full pay. And you don't get instate residency until you live in a state for a year, so he's be a full pay out of state student if he applied later than Jan of that year. That's EXPENSIVE@@muriel5826

There were wives that had homes with only their name on it. Kody didn’t have access to significant, at the time, equity in the Vegas homes. All the money became intertwined again at Coyote Pass. The only reason Christine had access to her equity in Flagstaff was because on Kody’s financing issues on Robin’s Flagstaff house. He refinanced Christine’s house without his name to clear up his finances.

Meanwhile the homes sat around vacant for awhile until they cut the prices significantly. The OG3 and OG13 are better off now.

7:12 there was a problem in Vegas. Everyone knew, where Kody was at all day and Robyn was sick of it. She didn’t want the other kids stopping by to see their father or get him because he was needed at the other house. Robyn gave Kody an office and a designated parking spot! In 2018 my sis in law moved to Flagstaff so my husband wanted to follow. I did a pretty good search on cost of living, places to work, places to shop and entertainment, etc and even everything around it. I said nope. Flagstaff is VERY expensive, secluded and not much opportunity there. You need to already have money if you want to make it there. I dont know how regular people can do it. Even my sis in law had full equity in the home she sold and had to significantly downgrade. And it seems home prices have doubled since then even. Crazy!

They moved to Flagstaff bc Dayton was going to college there. Stevie Wonder could see that! But, at this point the wives were still conditioned to just follow Kody and do what he said, and I’m also guessing TLC urged them along thinking it would make a good storyline 🤷‍♀️ I heard that Dayton wasn’t happy about it bc he wanted to go off to college without his mother up his a$$. Don’t know if that’s the truth but I’m guessing it probably is. No one was thinking of the kids 😡 uprooting them like that and moving them was horrible! Especially since it wasn’t necessary at allllll! I blame ALL of the adults for that! Really, it’s the kids (ALL of them) that are paying the price for the decisions of the adults, and for the decisions of TLC and the show. Makes me sick 🤮 Christine is right about their family already being broken in Vegas, even tho they had the ideal set up. Once Robyn came into the family she was like a cancer that spread. ANY cracks or fractures that may have already been formed were split wide open by her manipulation. I’m sure Kody sold Christine a good story and a pretty picture of the future of all of them living in harmony on Coyote Pass. He knew just what she wanted. Also, at that time, the OG3 still had minor children at home to care for and provide for. It wasn’t until almost all their kids (with the exception of Truely and Savannah) were grown and on their own that the OG3 dipped and said “bye Felicia!” I love these short vids breaking down the interview. When Meri got her house in Flagstaff her neighbours were not happy with having a polygamist living in their neighbourhood.. And Meri had barely unpacked her stuff and could pack everything up again.. Yeah they were very accepting of them in Flagstaff, very safe..🙄🤔

Your "sheep following the shepherd" comment is indeed important. It reveals how much the women just followed and didn't really ask questions or make demands. That's *so* foreign to how most married people live their lives that it's hard for us to wrap our minds around it and easy for us to ignore its impact. I think that this dynamic goes a long way toward explaining the persistent question of why financially savvy Janelle would go along with Kody's boneheaded schemes. Sam from Growing Up in Polygamy described the same dynamic, saying "Father" made ALL the real decisions in his family. He argued that having power concentrated in one person really is the only way that polygamy can "work." In fact, he suggested that the Browns ran into trouble because they tried to be more egalitarian than other polygamous families.

I lived in Phoenix for 4 years and frequently visited Flagstaff. It is absolutely NOT more accepting than Las Vegas. Visiting Vegas my husband and I would play a game called “bride or stripper” while walking down the street - way more accepting than AZ with a large contingent of a mainstream LDS population who don’t show their shoulders. It makes no sense.

As far as I understand they CAN start building on the land before it’s paid off. They CAN’T redraw the property lines until it’s paid off. Kody doesn’t want to start building until they redraw the property lines. Janelle’s house plans were drawn on an existing lot in a way that would have allowed the lots to be redrawn around them. Which is why it’s soooo dumb that Kody still wouldn’t let her break ground. (Correct me if I’m wrong.)

Because Kody is a narcissist and “he’s finally found his soulmate”, I believe this allows Robyn to plant seeds about the rest of the family and Kody ends up believing it’s his original thought or idea. I know someone like Robyn and they are very passive aggressive or downright openly combative, depending on the situation. Robyn is just as narcissistic as Kody is.
