Becoming a Vet is harder than being a human physician. At least according to the doctor I worked with that worked as a vet prior to going back to be a people doctor.

Yes, It's like human medicine x200. You need to know the entire animal system for ALL the animals and all the breeds! Plus all the diseases each of them can get, etc etc. And you're the general practitioner, oncologist, dermatologist, surgeon, optometrist, etc for the animals too. (there are a few specialties per state but not many. Most doctors have to do it all). Getting into vet school is also 100x harder than med school. There's a 12% acceptance rate. Probably because there are multiple med schools in most states. We have 7. Where as not every state even has one vet school. Only 28 of them in the U.S. My daughter's backup plan was to be a medical doctor if she didn't get into vet school. And sadly Vets get paid about half of People Doctors! it's a calling.

Gail was booked continuously at $85 a session in 1992 and loved her husband's work taking him out at night so she could have late clients . I knew him before they met at a party.... great love story of scientist learning there's more to the stars than he knew.... Gail was initially a LCSW, in Cali. And her nonprofit crossed paths with Oprah's friend and then they had connections to be on the show.

RE: Astronomy For the past few decades, it's been rare for Under Grads to work in the same field as their major. The exceptions would be Biological Sciences as a pre med degree, Animal Sciences for pre vet med, pretty much all of the engineering options and a handful of other pre professional tracks. It's the experience of being a successful college grad that employers look for. So go ahead and major in art, astronomy, anything "blank studies" history, psychology (a masters at minimum to practice), sociology, dance, theater, music., religious studies... anything you have a passion for and/or would enjoy studying. You're likely to have a better GPA, better mental health and be a more well-rounded employee. I used to be an Undergrad Advisor for the University of California and tracking such trends/statistics was part of my job.

Ooof. Astronomy is a legit career, however an advanced degree would be necessary for good employment in the industry. It also would be a good STEM base for teaching primary or secondary. She will have stronger math/science than most teachers and could go on to professional school, like law,or with additional biological sciences, medicine.
