Shouya gave shouko a meaning the meaning of life Shouya tried to kill him self in the start but something held him back he had to sort things out with Shouya before he died but at the end of the movie Shouya tried to kill her self but Shouya was the thing that held her back

"A few years later, at their first meeting" "What does Shoya give to Shoko?" Right before committing suicide fireworks are set off as he is reminded of his bullying back in 6th grade. So he wants to make amends with NIshimiya so he gives her the old notebook she used to communicate with others back in grade school. Also he learned sign language from a class so he pleaded " Can me and you Shoko. Can we be friends?" The same thing thing she asked him back in grade school. She befriends Shoya. The question asks about their first meeting not the entire movie.
