Everything Koenigsegg has done for the automotive world is incredible. It's a shame their cars will never get driven to their full potential. They'll just sit in collectors warehouses as investments.

@@best___0999 Koenigsegg will never, and I do mean NEVER make it into F1. Nevermind the fact that they don't even have enough money to run one race without going bankrupt LOL. And when they build their cars, it's never more than like 2 lmao. They need to produce, and never do. Instead they try to bang on about "Innovation". What good is your "innovation" when your inventory is so sparse and the miniscule number of impossibly rich people you sell to just keep it in a room laced with gold and locked away so that tech is really just sitting cold and useless as a rock somewhere? Stop building like 2 cars and selling them to the sons of dictators. Stop giving this tech to some random rapper. Not so bad if they had enough of them, which they don't. Dude they produced the CCGT and tried to get into LeMans and got snubbed like losers with a rule shift they couldn't adhere to. F1 would be even worse for them. Real car manufacturers don't take them seriously at all, and neither does the motorsport community (READ: I'm not talking about Redditors or KZbinrs. I'm talking about the manufacturing community).

Combustion Engines have an efficiency of 25-40%.... there is much place for evolution, while electric motors are at 95%, they are at its peak!

But yeah you are right, but also there we have the same problem like ICEs, even if we could improve it, it wouldnt be easy to do with our todays knowledge.... I once made the math on solar energy with home storage power-cells... and I was shocked! because the transformation of the energy takes so much energy... (heat,magnetization,...) Thats why I am pretty impressed of the "Siemens/Porsche" eFuels in Peru, they could clean the air with it and we will use the same amount of CO2 as we store in the fuel... and we could do all this with wind and solar we don't need for the day and we don't have to store the energy in less efficient accumulators, but in Fuel.... Less storage and better efficiency! I hope we see this kind of future!

I love that Christian is both the head of the company and knows everything about the car because he helped engineer it. Almost like Carrol Shelby.

I think he went further than Carrol. A greater challenge, and engineered the first cars himself largely I think. The engineering standards he's set for his people has driven to world-changing inventions. The Regera and Gemera drivertrains are just amazing. The new Jesko gearbox something others should have invested 40 years ago but didn't. FreeValve, same thing. This should not have to come from a small Swedish supercar brand. Making Bugatti, Porsche and Ferrari look silly.

I've always awed at the rotary engine, it's low inertial high revving internals, yet Koenigsegg is still able to revolutionize the typical piston engine to take its pros and eliminate its cons.

Rotary is better. It just is. If Koenigsegg put HALF as much effort into a new rotary as they do into their reciprocating engine, the power-weight ratio could easily be more than 1.

@@whitetipreef7163 I agree, but the problem is that the amount of money that would be needed for rnd on a rotary engine in its current state is grossly more than that of the piston. The rotary could be amazing but it would take so long and so much to get there.

@@farmerf22 from a principal point of view yes, but that was for low gearing with 1/10 of the horsepower and when speed wasnt an issue ^^ Whats impressive is that KE are doing a similar thing but with 1500hp+ at fractions of fractions of seconds =)

It's turbocharged, but from what I remember, a huge carbon fiber cylinder provides compressed air to compensate for turbo lag

The CCX was the first Koenigsegg I had ever heard of after seeing it in a movie. After that, I've had a genuine respect for the Koenigsegg brand and what they are able to accomplish for a company that small. Cristian von Koenigsegg is truly a genius.

I’m convinced Koenigsegg is the absolute pinnacle of automotive engineering. No challenge is to difficult or too unique for them. No component has a better design elsewhere. They are the absolute top of the food chain. This engine sounds like a 5L super bike engine

For comparison, the GMA T.50, which has a very small V12 revs at 28,500 rpm per second. One is a freely revving naturally aspirated engine, the other is a big turbo charged torque monster. (btw both are great cars, but it's crazy how good of an engine the Jesko's is despite Cosworth having way more experience in powertrain department)

@@Demidar the problem is that there is not a long enough track to reach that speed, the only serious one where bugatti did the speed tests of the veyron ss and the modified chiron, but obviously they will not lend that track to their competition.

@@derekmaxwell8164 they don’t need AWD if they could find a way to get the Jesko’s power to the ground and keep traction. On a prepped surface that’s a lot easier. Even with AWD, on an unprepped surface that would still lose traction off the line

@@derekmaxwell8164 that’s why there’s the Jesko and the Jesko Absolut. The Absolut is the straight line car. That is a 1:1 power to weight ratio on E85 fuel. 1600KG and 1600 HP. The Jesko is the track version that puts out something like 1400lbs of downforce compared to 25 on the Absolut.

The top speed run would be great but more interesting with the Jesko Absolute, this car I'm more curious to see the laptime but Nordschleife is so empty-feeling these days with "mere supercars" suspiciously beating the track specials like the Zonda R. Koenigsegg will probably do an honest job but be beaten by some lambo special edition with half the power and double the weight a week after their attempt. I almost don't want Koenigsegg to attempt a laptime for this reason.

One problem for CVK is Aston Martin will be releasing their Valkyrie and Gordon Murray his T50 at about the same time. A Nurburgring competition between the three boutique brands would be very exciting. My guess is the T50 would win - central pilot position for balance, superior downforce and light weight would trump its lack of power vs the other two.

I remember seeing Konigsegg for the first time in Gran Turismo 20 years ago and never heard of it again until I saw a Dupont Registry. Very cool to see how far they have come.

fascinating stuff, wonder how that compares to when the engine is under load (with driveline losses, wind resistance and boost all factor in) incredible work. wish I could pick their brains and do all kinds of fun tests with such cars

You are right, doing this while driving injects too many variables; some like you said and it seems the most obvious to me is, are the tires just spinning on the pavement or maintaining traction during the test run, which would obviously affect the load on the drivetrain. Data logging done in neutral seems to be the only reasonable way to do this test if comparison to other cars is a goal.

if you lived in Sweden you could do that. my city literally offers high school programs that then can lead in to jobs att Koenigsegg. i believe they partnered up with Koenigsegg or something. don't really know the whole deal but i have seen the adds about it. i think the latest add i saw was like designer or something. also i live 15min away from Koenigsegg :D

I’m sure the “ramping up” from idle that he’s talking about is actually just him taking the time to fully depress the pedal, and the 46,000 rpm/s maximum is from when the throttle is fully opened. On most cars this wouldn’t make too much of a difference on a test like this. But for this car, he’s probably at 4,000 rpm by the time his foot finally gets to the floor. Pretty fascinating.

i think he's saying that because the engine makes less power at lower rpms ie. idle, it will spin up the engine slower than when it reaches the rpms where peak torque and power are made.

i don't know how a smaller company can be so innovative with new engineering solutions especially when compared to much larger manufacturers that have been deeply embedded at the top tier of motorsports for many decades, but its incredible being able to follow their progress and innovations.
