More than likely it's the camera from the logging kit, hence the embedded graphs. This video is for people interested in the speed/acceleration graph. If you want to see a HD production, go watch the first video they released about this.

It's a gigantic torque converter launch control all the way to 260-270 kmph when the lock up clutch finally locks up. Till then it's all slip. There's a blue light in the center of the dash just to show that. Then the revs go up with speed.

For the people asking about the gears: •There is ONE final drive (2.73:1 ratio) •The electric 800hp powertrain powers the wheels until the wheel speeds match the engine idle RPM, then it is coupled to the wheels with the KDD (Koenigsegg Direct Drive) to power the wheels.

Torque converter slips from the beginning to give torque multiplication, so the ICE is in fact involved from 0. The hydra coup then keeps engine revs higher than wheel speed for torque multiplication. However there is a limit to this initially because power and revs are limited by the wheelspin, which ends close to 300 kph!! Then at the point where acceleration is no longer grip limited, it locks up and goes direct drive and revs rise linearly till the top speed is reached.

Honestly conditions were dreadful for this run - cold, damp broken pavement and cold tires and hitting bumps that caused notable dips in the acceleration curve. Easily another 2 seconds in there. I think they should remove the electronic speed limiter so it can hit 400 a second quicker. And running by the numbers, they have done this on regular gasoline. On E85 there's still another extra 200 HP in there.

I don't see the Chiron needing a roll cage and a race suit to drive to top speed though. Read up on why the powertrain is so robust in the Chiron. The regera is neat tech, but how high strung is that motor? How is the repeatability of this acceleration? There are many factors to consider than just an over exposed video with little detail.

@@joshfoley8862 First of all, the regera was fitted with a roll cage purely for safety of the test. It doesn't need one to get to top speed. Secondly, the regera's engine is not taxed throughout the duration of the run. Since it's direct drive, the engine is only really at work when it hits around 4-5k rpm and above. Before that, it's mostly E-power. The bugatti however, has no electric motors. Just 16 cilinders and 1500hp. While this means less stress per cilinder, it does not mean less stress for the drivetrain because it's awd and the car is heavy as hell. This equates to the drivetrain NEEDING to be robust as to handle the launch and not blow apart under the load. The only trick they could ever pull was the top speed and 0-60 time (thanks to awd).

@@joshfoley8862 And let's not forget, the regera is a semi electric car. This means it will undoubtedly have issues with rising battery pack temperatures. But even so I'm sure it will walk the Chiron. I mean it's a huge difference when the regera completes the whole 0-400-0 while the chiron still needs an additional second or so to get to 400. Even with reduced power from the regera's E-drive, it will decimate the Chiron. So what's your point here?

What impresses me most about the Regera is no how fast it can go from 0-100kph, nor how fast it goes from 100-200, its that after 200kph, it just, keeps, climbing!

MajesticPhoenix They don’t care anymore about these records. Bugatties are way too heavy to compete with light cars like Koenigseggs. When Koenigsegg or Henessy beat Bugatti when it comes to top speed they will just say, Well played and go on

@@Sheridantank Yes and that's the interesting value. No support from the seat like when you are accelerating and only held on by? I'm guessing a 6 point racing harness. Dont know the details but I know for a car to be street legal it must have regular seat belts installed. So I'm guessing they normal seatbelt is tucked away and then you attach the racing harness to already existing mounting points. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

@@Cuplex1 I'm not sure how that relates to what I said, but Interesting pointing still. I would doubt you would ever get a ticket for no seatbelts while wearing a harness because you don't have the factory retractable ones. I would venture to guess the law says a racing harness properly installed counts as a seatbelt in most places. Also I would reckon places where it doesn't, you would never be fined for it so in practice would he legal.

@@hoen2009 It would be almost the same as the regera if you throw it of a cliff. Look at the G counter in the video, in the beginning its just under 1 which means that the car accellerates almost as fast as you fall xd

No shifts, pure engine at the max. Amazing. But to be honest, I prefer the gears because the sounds during the shifts makes the engine more pronounced. Great job by Christian and the team overall.

@@CBadger Definitely! But they are setting up a record in crazy speeds. If something happens, at least there is a roll cage to protect the driver. Even though they test their cars and they claim their cars are safe, why not to put a roll cage for additional safety.

What I've learnt is, add a random graph that looks legit, record any old thing on a foggy day and just say you've broken the record and used the random graph to prove it. Simple, I'm off out on my pushbike to video me breaking the record on my Nokia 3310.

Scooter's are cvts. But torque converters can also slip forward to some extent. The rpm was increasing till 400. This uses a torque converter and 3 electric motors, not a cvt.

Like that top speeds run are done in both directions to remove road and weather conditions. Running one way on a test track optimized for one direction does not qualify. Does not matter if Tüv can verify what speed you went.

Torque converter slips from the beginning to give torque multiplication, so the ICE is in fact involved from 0. The hydra coup then keeps engine revs higher than wheel speed for torque multiplication. However there is a limit to this initially because power and revs are limited by the wheelspin, which ends close to 300 kph!! Then at the point where acceleration is no longer grip limited, it locks up and goes direct drive and revs rise linearly till the top speed is reached.
