@WoobertAIO6 сағат бұрын
I don't think Vice & Mature's hidden plot has been forgotten or unresolved, but rather that it's still in progress. SNK has given some very ARG-like clues to what's happening with that throughout the years. Like, Vice & Mature are helping Iori inconditionally and without giving any explanation for it, but with a weird and absolute subservience, almost like how they were with Rugal. There's also the fact that Magaki in KoF XI said "there's no way Orochi doesn't wake up with all of this fighting energy" and then Iori _immediately_ went into the Riot of the Blood so hard that he beat _Kyo of all people_ unconscious and sent Shingo to a no-fighting recovery for several years. Then in KoF XV we have Iori's Climax, where he speaks with Orochi's voice. And finally, during Vice & Mature's announcement for KoF XV, SNK went and said "This is the first time all 8 Hakkeshu have been in the same game" which is weird because even with Vice & Mature that would only make 7, right? So my theory here is that Iori somehow, without realizing it himself, became Orochi's vessel at some point. Probably at either the end of KoF XIII where he willingly accepted Orochi's corrupted flames, or at the end of KoF XIV where they slay a portion of Orochi's power that had revived without a vessel due to Verse's death.

KOF may have had their storylines and everything mostly air tight but it's always stuff like the dragon spirit, the those from the past and vice and mature with their story arcs not being resolved even after all these years really reminds me there's just not enough time to flesh out every single character and every single bit of media. It would be cool to get all of these storylines finally be given answers but then we come across the issue of maybe it's gonna come up with a stupid resolution and maybe it's all right if we just leave it alone as is. Although that dragon spirit one definitely needed some more build up.

KoF plotlines seem to always have problems because of the final game of a storyline having production issue causing problems. In particular 2001 being built understaffed and overrworked by the remnants of SNK at Breezasoft and Eolith and XIII having so many issues due to how expensive and long to create each of the sprites were. XIII also just lacked so many important characters so it isn't surprising that the planned Those From the Past Team was scrapped so they could include more staple characters given the reaction to XII missing so many staples at that point in the series with Mai, King, Yuri, K', Maxima, Whip, Blue Mary, Shingo, and the Ash Saga characters like Oswald, Adelheid, Malin, Tizoc, and Gato.

To me the biggest mystery is the real reason behind Iori and Kyo's rivalry. During the canonic ending in kof96 Kyo said it has nothing to do with the war between the Yagami and the Kusanagi. My theory is it has something to do with their childhood. In Kof95 when Iori's team reaches the final stage Saisyu recognizes Iori saying he has grown up, meaning Iori met the Kusanagi family when he was a child. He probably met Kyo when they were both kids. I think originally he didn't care about the rivalry then something happened that triggered him and made him hate them. Especially Kyo. I'd like to say he has something to do with Iori's father's death but it's probably more complicated than that. I don't he hates him just for the sake of hating him. Originally Iori doesn't like violence so there must be a very good reason for him to hate Kyo. The fact that they can team up when necessary makes it even more obvious that what divides them is deeper than just a random rivalry.

the ash saga really did have the problem of shilling ash's tbh obvious story that the other characters really were forgotten hard with kensou being a real unfortunate case going from a potential earth shattering force to alongside ron(and lin/igniz secretary misty joining likely for revenge) the dragon spirit being forgotten(looking back in the same saga it disappeared pretty quickly in 2001/krizalid revived on a team likely giving him redemption before it got shelved.) to being a athena simp(making her a bit of a jerk not just telling him fully her feelings that even luong calls her out on it.) that he missed out on 15 so far(where tbh it should've been him and their master as the circus acts with mai & yuri as idols alongside athena though do like it hints if we see him they'll bring it back with how he's gone to train,'angel teasing him about it in 14 & duo lon bringing it/ron up.). those from the past are pretty much just botan now(who isn't that much of a threat with how it's mostly shown she just went n disappeared into society.) as shroom is implied to be killed by shion(who after what happened to him don't think he'd want to join up with them again but would really love to see shion return as i loved his effeminate style.). in kof 13/14 those from the past took energy from orochi so they were sent by him to do something about it(with i guess 14 being verse presence messing with orochi enough for them to be playable with how he almost revived.) & awakened orochi's ending implying for vice/mature they left orochi likely to join up with iori(they were surprisingly caring like mothers to him with how they let him choose his path in 13 with not much malice/could see them playing around with him but in their own way happy to be with him after vice very likely lets out a pent up rage fight for what iori did to her.). unresolved plot points i'd love to see being: kof's version of geese story with rock(that would be an interesting perspective as i don't need him being pulled for cotw.)/possibly going after orochi as it feels like he'll be the next threat for kof16. adelheid as he/rose haven't shown up at all after the ash saga especially the missed opportunity of them seeing their father rugal revived(instead of being as irrelevant as the dream matches.). luong definitely likely planning revenge on blue mary(who's surprisingly a incompetant detective compared to her fatal fury version with how she's helped geese twice.) for almost getting hein killed switched the gem she took from dolores to defeat him. the gateways that otama raga left open leading to the possibility of more snk series to the roster/revived characters like chizuru's sister maki from verse defeat. cys redemption as outside chris being pure evil awakened orochi's ending showed if orochi did win shermie/yashiro might regret the bare world and would be an extreme waste having them just be one note evil to die again/interesting interactions they have like yashiro appreciating the earth with dolores(that with her knowledge could give them a different path to take.)/kukri & shermie with sylvie paula paula being a good friend to her. orochi's inevitable return as with how it's been teased twice he's definitely the last big threat the characters need to deal with for good considering it's inspiration & with leona's father now alive who was a hakkeshu could be a way to stop him.(with how in the original tale it was defeated being made drunk love shingo doing that.) in the beginning of the ash saga in the art of fighting team ending takuma gets attacked by an assassin(doesn't feel like those from the past did it with how none of the aof team mention it to saiiki/don't feel important enough they'd go after them.) likely part of malin's hire with how she was sent to spy on the kof fighters/disliked yuri's disposition that she teamed up with eiji and kasumi(who's father is still missing.)before it was forgotten with the other ash saga plots that could go into if she did it.

The Howling Blood timeline also never got resolved. Why is there a need for 10 SacredTreasures (at least 7 were known)?

The current duology has been the worst arc so far in terms of story. I hope with the new funding SNK focuses on creating an enticing plot for the next one because this also lowkey drives sales.

There are too many one-dimensional characters in KOF; the mainline plot feels lost on me now.

These plots will never get resolved because they are too dark for the new soft childish direction that modern games are adopting lately. We'll most likely have stories no more complicated than Barbie plot from now on.
