The UltraBoost 19 were the first expensive running shoes I ever bought, and that was five years ago. They were $180 normally, but I got them for $130 at an Adidas Outlet store. I stopped running in them after 400 miles, but they are still very nice for walking. I would consider getting a new pair if I wasn't already full up on running shoes.

Agreed, 210lb runner here, it offers great protection and support. Great for easy/recovery/long runs, couldn’t get too much out of it on tempos or speed workouts. Shoe isn’t worth $180 but Adidas has them on sale for $135 now, which seems justifiable at that price point.

I have all the Adizero shoes now after getting the SL2 but I also have various Ultraboost shoes for casual wear and would never run in. Got the Ultraboost 5X and it's still a lifestyle shoe that is now also a pretty decent running shoe. The SL2 is the perfect daily trainer that's been missing in the Adizero lineup. The UB5X just isn't as good as the SL2 for "serious" running. I've taken the SL2 on 10+ mile tempo runs and it felt great. I would not want to go on an easy run over 5 miles with the UB5X. That being said, the UB5X is perfect for weekend getaways and taking on short business trips when I want to just take one small carry-on bag without having to pack a pair of running shoes for a short morning run.

Saucony took over the “boost” and ran away with it with the PWRRUN PB/HG (no pun intended). Adidas dropped the ball on this tech… they still have Lightstrike Pro and should’ve learned their lesson and make all their shoes with this one instead.

I found the 5x and the Triumph 21 to be very similar as well. The Triumph with slightly more pop due to the power run midsole, but adidas is definitely heading in the right direction.

I will have to try the two new Ultraboost shoes in a store to compare the stability from the lockdown. I loved the Ultraboost 22 and Ultraboost Light ,regardless of the weight or the plastic cage. Hopefully this Ultraboost 5X will be stable enough for me without the cage.

I used to think of myself as a pretty good runner. Until I met the PX. That shoe will cruelly expose any imperfections there might be in your form. I don't think of myself as an over-pronator, but apparently I am. The PX will teach you to be a better runner. If it doesn't twist your ankles first!

The midsole improvements in the forefoot finally make it look like an actual running shoe. I too miss primeknit... But at that price point I do feel there are so much better options right now. Especially when regional pricing has not been kind to my country. Now we're paying 5 digits for the ultraboost, instead of 4.

Really wish adidas would make a shoe with a more reasonable drop. 10mm in 2024 is insane, especially as it looks like it has a rocker geometry too. I get some people heelcrash, but most don't. Regardless of where on your foot you land, a whole centimeter is far too high. Get with the times adidas, try 6mm (or less?) and I may try one of your shoes.

The quality is very good compared to Nike Invincible Run. UB19, UB20, UB 21 Parley still going while my NIKE Inv. 1 is coming apart, the sole got detached and is breaking in small pieces

Ultraboost has been my universal footwear since 2017. I want to try the Ultraboost 5, but is it not too thick? I am very happy with the previous versions. I wear smart casual on a daily basis. Please let know if I should consider this.

Mostly overlapping use cases. But very different experiences. It’s not exactly like the difference between new balance’s Fuelcell shoes versus Fresh Foam X shoes. A Rebel and an 880 are the same category of shoe. And the right one for you will depend a lot on preferences

A very interesting running shoe for me. Actually I tried the Ultraboost light, but the breathability of this shoe is very bad. I used the Ultraboost heat.rdy before and it was much better. Also the sole of the Light feels bulky while running.

I just received my Ultraboost 5. The upper seems to stretch a bit too much for me in stark comparison to my Ultraboost Light which hardly has any stretch at all. Tightening the laces helped a bit as compared to leaving it loose. With my initial release Ultraboost Light, the boost foam would crumble and break off! I hope this doesn't happen to the Ultraboost 5.

I don’t think this line is that great for running but most pro football players wear this exclusively as a GYM / CrossFit / Recovery / Everyday shoe. I run on trails or sand so I use Salomon and Ultraboost is just amazing for gym work (depending what you do in the gym), but I feel like most reviews don’t address this important functional aspect Good review anyway thx

What do you guys think is better? I am looking for a daily shoe that I can run occasionally, be on my feet all day at work, do light activities in, and still not have a sore feet. I have been wearing ultraboosts. Should I upgrade to the 5x? Go for NewBalance 1080v13 or the NewBalance FuelCell Rebel V4? I am aware the the 1080v13 is really plush and comfy but in the past with I believe the 1080v12s I had an issue where my feet started to hurt after couple hours in it. Any suggestions? Would you still recommend me the 5x?

it's Adidas and an ultraboost, so two things are very likely: 1) there will be more colorways than we can keep track of 2) there is a possibility that there is never a production version that looks exactly like the sample upper I have

It’s like a 5% increase, nothing crazy. The best change I’ve seen is just adding more boost in the forefoot which should balance things out better when you’re moving

But a more dense foam does somewhat feel more reactive to the foot, as it not sink in as much like their first ultra boost Cmiiw but maybe, he feel that ub1.0 felt more exicting and springy/bouncy than the ub5x, And id pay attention much to the newer 5x article but from i remember, the 19 and 20 got around 20% boost increase and on 21 they increase it more, for the light idk how much and now its 5% more for 5x

These shoes make zero sense in a rotation when you look at the Adizero lineup. The Boston 12 does everything this shoe does and can be found at a much lower price point on sale. Plus it’s got light strike pro and fiberglass rods. It’s literally good for all types of run: easy, tempo, race, you name it. The only thing about the Boston is the upper and the laces, which can be mostly fixed with ‘lock-laces’. I would not buy these ultra boosts until they go on sale for less than $100 tbh

Yes you can do it all with Boston 12, but it will eat them faster too... I guess that's why it's common having B12 as a specialized trainer and another easy trainer like SL2 or Supernova Rise sharing the mileage load.

What is there to explain? other times, it’s like, well, perceived softness and durometer softness van be very different things because one is a static or instantaneous measurement and the other is an observation over time…

Adidas should jsut retire the ultraboost line. Ultraboost doesnt make any sense anymore. Its still very heavy and is not as reponsive as other shoes. There are so many alternatives to ultraboost which are cheaper,lighter, more responsive and lastly, better lookingThats my own opinion only. Now, if adidas can reformulate boost to be as light and as responsive as say the saucony's pwrrun then yeah people might take a second look at ultraboost

UB22 was released in 2022 and is a very different model. Ultraboost 5X was released in 2024 and resumes the original naming conventions of Ultraboost, which were not tied to the release year. I refer to the differences between the shoes when I remark in this video how there are changes that I like in the UB5.

Thanks for the correction. I visited the Adidas store on 5th Ave today to confirm. Looks like he still said 31/21 though. I tried them on and the upper is incredibly comfortable as you would expect PrimeKnit to be. Did not purchase on the spot though. Just bought the Skyflow and Ghost Max 2, not a fan of 10mm drops.
