I've only got into The Fall after Mark died. Id always known about them but knew nothing about them . They seemed too aloof when I was doing my thing in the 90s and I had no mates that were remotely interested in them and regrettably I never took a leap of faith and bought one of their records or went to a gig. After mark died I was out for a run and I thought I'd listen to some Fall songs to see what they were all about , after a bit Sparta FC came on. It went straight into my top 10 favourite ever tunes, I wanted to scream and smash something to bits I loved it , still can't get my mates into them.

Check out "Sparta FC" with Jan Svankmejer animation, a brilliant mash up. I once lived in a flat overlooking the Sparta FC grounds in Prague, I wonder what inspired the Fall? Half Man Half Biscuit does "All I Want For Christmas Is A Prague Dukla Away Kit". Is there another song out there about a Prague football club to complete the triumvirate? Perhaps I'll write one about FK Viktoria Žižkov.

Some of them would have remembered them and it stuck in their minds. When I was a kid in the 80s I went to see the Smiths, actually New Order where top of that bill, but the Fall were on before both of them and they always stuck in my mind. I started buying their stuff.
