Hello Kori 👋 I feel like this pencils very underrated. They are very affordable here in Europe, much more cheaper than in US and wildly available open stock for around 1€ per pencil. I have small set of Mondeluz pencils and use them together with Albrecht Dürer and they are doing fine. If you can find them for a good price I highly recommend this pencils, plus you always can consider purchasing the budget version in cardboard box. Thank you for the video! 😊❤

Yes, I wish this brand in general was more available in the US. It would definitely be one I'd recommend more if we could actually get our hands on them lol

Oh my gosh. Thank you for saying you find them scratchy. I am looking to start playing around with watercolor pencils and was in Blick yesterday testing some open stock to pick up a few to try out before buying a set -- and half of the ones I tried were super scratchy. I had that "What am I doing wrong?" moment there in the middle of the aisle. The lady waiting for me to finish appreciated me having that moment of doubt. LOL. I'm glad I was able to help her with her patience with strangers skills, but way more glad to hear that they to tend to be scratchy.

Some watercolor pencils are scratchy, yes, but I didn't say these were. These were actually smoother to lay down than their non-watercolor counterparts. However, yes, there are some watercolor pencils that are scratchy.

Kori, yes I would be interested in seeing you compare the Koh-I-Noor colored pencils against their watercolor pencils. If you said this and I missed it, I apologize for asking, but are their pencils a perfect color match to their counterpart, like the Faber-Castell Polychromos and Albrect durer pencils are?

They are, sort of. Because they don't all have color names on them, it becomes a bit of a hassle matching them up.

There is open stock on cult pens, I only have a few Mondeluz that I bought OS from there.

That's good to know that Cult Pens has them. For those in the UK it would be worth it. In the U.S. that would get pricey to replace a pencil :(

I highly advise against purchasing open stock on Amazon. Not only is it overpaying, but often, those sellers are not legitimate and you are receiving defective open stock pencils.

Will you be reviewing the Fantasia Premium watercolor pencils (36set) ? I'm not sure watercolor pencils are for me and was looking for a less expensive set to experiment with. There aren't a lot of reviews for the Fantasia pencils and I would be interested in your thoughts on this budget brand. Thanks.

Two suggestions for never needing to buy replacement pencil: 1) Protect and care for your pencil, valuing it. Sharpen it with quality sharpener and/or sharp scalpel. 2) Only take up Colouring when you are already really OLD.

I really like these pencils. But I also like their Polycolor (open stock for Polycolors available at Cult Pens). The confusing thing about them is that I started with a cardboard box of 36 which also had a brush and possibly a pencil sharpener in it. They were great, which is why I bought the 72 count. However, the box 36 don’t have dipped ends. But the 72 tin has beautiful gold dipped pencils. I have no idea why they are different or if there are any other differences.

So the box set is their "budget" version, but from what I can tell, there is no difference in quality -- it is more of a packaging and the way they finished the pencil exterior that is the difference.

Before sharpening color name and number away I would sharpen them from the other end of the pencil 🤓

Yes, I could. It's easier, however, to just sharpie a number on the ends of them and correspond that on a chart so I don't risk breaking the other end.

Be cautious with those. Often they're sold by third parties for way more than they should and can even be fake.
